I wanted to offer some practical information for people that make physical things. I keep stumbling upon articles and resources that I wish I had found back in my 20’s when I started my career.

August 19, 2020 40 Newsletter Subscribers

I have been forwarding my email to 5 friends every week and that gets a few subscribers. Honestly it can take two forwards before a friend sees enough value to subscribe.
And that's ok!

I also post it to LinkedIn every week, which gets traffic slowly, over time. Most my posts get 50 - 150 views on LinkedIn.

Posting on Facebook has not worked very well, and it is hard to see how many views it gets.

Sharing on Instagram has very few conversions as well. But I keep posting, and maybe eventually more friends will sign up.

June 19, 2020 First newsletter sent

Shipping is the only way to learn. So I launched with two subscribers and figured out the system.
I initially used SendFox for the mailing service but that was too limited.
I also started posting my newsletters on my blog - it's nice for theme to live outside of the inbox.

May 2020 Write every day for 60 days - completed

I have been writing off an on for a long time, but I haven't really committed to the practice.

I spent April and May just writing and it was very valuable. My ideas got clearer and my writing got a little bit better.

This really fueled my fire to post on my blog (which was started in May 2019).
