I’ve been building and managing distributed teams for about 10 years now. During the Covid-19 pandemic I helped a lot of companies cope and then thrive as distributed and remote and many now say they won’t go back.

June 14, 2022 The book is now back

Last year I abandon the book for various reasons. It was painful, I like to finish what I started. I made a quick announcement on my website and I just stopped publishing any more news, it was painful to even think about it.

But the book is back. I started working on it again. I actually finished the bulk of the writing and it's now in proof-reading stage. I'm happy with the state it's in and I would publish it as it is now, but proof reading is making it so much better. This means that I believe it's a high certainty that this book will be out and out soon.

December 22, 2020 One on ones

I've finished the first draft on one-on-ones for distributed teams. One on ones are always important, but when distributed they are critical and essential because you can't just glance sideways to know if someone is frustrated, depressed, struggling, lost, doing the wrong thing, having an argument.

December 16, 2020 First draft on running effective meetings

Today I finished writing the first draft of the chapter on running effective distributed meetings for my book. It ended up being a bit longer that I expected, I didn't know I had so many habits that I applied to running meetings. We'll see how much survives the editing process.

December 9, 2020 Finished first draft of chapter on culture

I set myself the goal of writing 1000 words a day and when I sat down today I wrote 2000 on how to create and maintain culture at the company. This includes team bonding, work activities, non-work activities and many other aspects of psychology. This is only a first draft though.

December 5, 2020 Started writing the book

I finally had the time to sat down and think about this, consider the situation, the signals, the journey and made the official decision of starting the process of writing this book.

I'm not starting from scratch because my blog (https://flexpoint.tech) already has many posts that will be expanded to become chapters.

The official page for the book will be: https://flexpoint.tech/building-and-managing-distributed-teams/
