I'm sick of receiving vague bug reports that require follow up info. I'm trying to make sure whenever any developer gets a bug report, they'll know all aspects of the customers environment to diagnose that bit quicker.

October 1, 2020 Applied for Zendesk marketplace

Hoping to get accepted into Zendesk's marketplace as an additional growth channel, which has the added bonus of providing a free test account. Currently my integration has been on a paid plan that I'm not using outside of for product development. Have also updated the product landing page to clarify things a bit more talking a bit on benefits over features.

September 9, 2020 Added Integrations for Zendesk and Slack

Have added some integrations for Slack and Zendesk, which will make it easier for customers to receive their technical reports and videos without logging in. Next thing I need to do is to add some marketing material to the homepage to explain how the integrations work, as well as getting them ready for submission to the respective app stores.

July 14, 2020 Shipped New Landing Page

Just put live the new Capable landing page, still a few responsive issues and hi density image problems to sort out but overall a big improvement on the original one thanks to feedback from the IH community. Hopefully get all the smaller problems sorted out and resolved over the next few days. Will be integrating a PH launch specific bit of code too.

July 9, 2020 Added Screen Recording to Reports

It's been a while since I've had the capacity to work on adding features to Capable, but happy to announce that I've just added screen recording to the app, and having taken on board lots of great feedback from other Indie hackers, the landing page will be next on the agenda. Not quite ready to launch properly though - I know there are still some teething problems, but happy with how things are progressing.

Difficult to get the balance right between working on marketing type activities and product; particularly when there hasn't been much validation of the idea, but right now, I'm happy with what the product does, and I've been dog fooding with my own team mates at work during debug sessions where it has proved useful, so I know there is a problem there to solve which is half the battle.

So far just for my own records: Capable performs the following:

  1. Lets you see your customer Operating System, Browser, Browser version and Browser capabilities. e.g. if the device your customer is using has SVG support, or media capabilities.

  2. For devices that support it, let's you record the customers screen and sends back a video for support staff to review exactly what is happening on screen at that moment in time.

Next stop, a decent landing page that actually explains wtf the product does.

January 1, 2019 Started Work on Capable

I started working on Capable using ReactJS as something of a learning project as I wanted to create a SaaS framework that I could use to ship other product ideas as well. Alongside my existing day job, I've been working steadily on Capable since then. With bug reports in my day job often being as vague as 'there's a problem' and finding out 'what is the customers browser' often a pain, I decided to build a tool to make things easier.

My strategy for getting stuff done is to break everything down into small parts in Trello, working on one card at a time, and shipping as soon as humanly possible. Another big win is having automated deploys from the get-go, making one click to deploy once I've built something.
