careup

This is what I've done this week:

• Starting sending DMs on facebook to potential clients. I've talked to 30 clients and I've unfortunately had very little response. I'll keep trying to improve the way I deliver the value to them and hopefully I'll work better for the next 30.
• I'm working on publishing a blog though I've had very little time to work on it so its not ready yet.
• I've been trying to set up Paypal subscriptions. I'd be wonderful I Stripe was available in Mexico :'(
• I finished listening to all episodes of the IH podcast. I've learned a lot from them. Keep'em comin @csallen !!
• The web app has a new landing page. Check it out ;) https://careup.mx/
• I decided to experiment with ads so this week I bought a little amount of google ads and they are now live so I'll be updating on how this turns out.

So I decided I'll be doing weekly updates about Careup (https://careup.mx/) to get a little discipline and have a record on where the project goes.

This is what I've done this week:

• Decided to switch between days of development and growth, one day for each, this way I hope to get more focus and I feel it helps me get organized. It might no be the best strategy but lets see if it works.
• Looked for directories where I could list my product. My first option was AlternativeTo, but they only allow products in English to be published. I wasn't so succesful finding others, except for about two directories.
• Also took the time to see what's working for my competitors. Tools like SimilarWeb(similarweb.com) helped me a lot with that.
• On the development side I worked mostly on one feature that has been rolled out today and I also sent the news through email.
• In a few days I'll put a blog and start my journey on content marketing. I'll be using VuePress and Surge.sh to get this thing up.

Today I got my first Sign Up!

After sending the first 300 emails I got, at last, my first real sign-up. It was pretty time consuming but finally I had some results.

Though it's not all good news because I have yet to see if the user will subscribe after his 14-day trial.

I expect to get some feedback and of course I'll still be looking for the next few users.

This last semester we were required at college to submit a project to the anual contest. Just a few days before the deadline Chamé (my team partner) and I finished the project.

The day of the presentation arrived and we were the first ones in line. There was a panel of judges (actually just two professors) who reviewed our presentation. The feedback we received was harsh but it was expected, though I did feel disappointed by the little interest we perceived by our professors towards our project.

After every team presented their projects every one of us received a certificate, we took a group picture and we waved good bye to the school to enjoy our vacations.

A few days later I received a message from Chamé telling me that the results for the contest had been shared and that we were the winners!!.

What's funny is that Chamé and I didn't know this was a contest until a day before, as we come from other cities and we are new to this campus and didn't know this was a competition.

This is Careup!

It started as a request by my parents, who are dentists, to move some things they were doing on paper to a tool. Then it continued as a project that I required for a school course. Now I'm doing it as a side project and expect to learn a lot from it.

Careup is aimed at dentist who want to leverage technology to help grow their business.

The project is really young but these are the features it provides:

• Create patients, register their general information, medical history, appointment history, and an odontogram (It helps dentist register the condition of every tooth of their patients).

• Register appointments and send automated email reminders to their patients about their appointment.
