MVP Soft Launch

Over the last few months, Ive been building CastCloud.fm to reach a Minimum Viable Product state. Since CastCloud.fm happens to be a podcast host, it at the very least had to be capable of hosting a podcast for someone.

After a few months of working on it part-time, Ive finally managed to make it there (and then some) and have started my search for beta testers.

MVP functionality, to me, when I looked at other competitors around, had to include:

  • The ability to upload and manage your podcast episodes
  • Basic analytics on performance (the front-end for this is still kinda rough, but the backend data collection is there)
  • Generate a compliant RSS feed for distribution. This is probably the most critical piece since this is the lifeblood of distributing your podcast to iTunes, Spotify, and the like.
  • A basic website with a baked in player. Some folks probably don't have a website, so providing some basic and easy to use is a starting point where listeners can tune in to new and existing episodes.

Now that things are functional, its time to start finding some users! Luckily, my wife is launching her own podcast so she'll be the first to give it a try, and Ive also had a little bit of luck finding interested folks on Instagram.

Now begins the journey to hopefully grow this into something successful!
