This product started after combining a number of conversations I had. In brief, these conversations touched upon the following topics:
- I'm teaching relational analytics for quite some time to HR professionals. We discuss communication and how employee engagement and company culture impact communication patterns. I know the potential, and I know that HR professionals value combining these two data sources. I also have not seen any tool in that area.
- I'm active in the remote work community. Communication is key for distributed teams. As important is organizational culture, it's the thing that glues team members together in the absence of face-to-face interaction.
Thanks to the help and motivation I got from the workfrom community, I just gave it a shot and started working on it. I'm not a software developer, but a computational social scientist. My knowledge of any coding language is limited and I had to learn a lot on the way. What I achieved so far has been great progress for me.
Lessons learned:
- Just give it a try. Keep in mind what you want to achieve and document your learning. If your product fails, you can look back at a huge set of new skills you acquired .
- Seek out people to motivate you.
