Developer-first Markdown editor and headless CMS in one.
Professional editor and powerful headless CMS in one. Vrite is a writing platform by developers, for developers. | coming 2023
It's been a while since I've posted here. ๐ Thought it would be good to provide an update and, if possible, return to regular posting on IH.
There's been a lot of changes since the last post, so to give you a summary:
My co-founder didn't have much time to contribute to the project and we decided to part ways (hence I'm looking for a new one);
Vrite entered Public Beta;
I decided to convert Vrite to a Commercial Open Source Software (COSS) project, publishing it on GitHub under AGPL-3.0 license;
I launched Vrite and a derived demo project - Vrite Editor - on sites like HN and Reddit, slowly growing to, what now is >1K stars on GitHub, >1.3K registered Beta users, the few of which started building actual projects (blogs, knowledge bases) on Vrite;
I'm steadily moving to a stable version, positioning Vrite as a collaborative, all-in-one technical content management platform to compete with the likes of GitBook, or Confluence.
I'm still working on a sustainable marketing strategy and preparing for a stable (or at least feature-complete) launch in the upcoming months.
So, there's definitely a lot going on - that's why I'm looking for someone to join in on the effort and push Vrite to the next level ๐ Check out this post if you're interested: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/seeking-co-founder-for-open-source-devtool-start-up-21c2e0a69b
Vrite - a new kind of headless CMS focused on technical content is now available in limited Beta! ๐
All waitlisted users got their invites and we're already in full swing with testing and collecting feedback.
That said, if you weren't waitlisted and want to check out the beta - just let us know!
Also, you can still waitlist for future beta releases and product updates: https://vrite.io ๐
With February coming big time, and with it - the Vrite Beta release, I decided to turn up marketing efforts! ๐ฅ This week, in an effort to improve SEO and traffic, I've launched the official Vrite blog! ๐ฅณ It'll be focused primarily on web development and technical writing though I hope to expand this list over time.
Since Vrite is a headless CMS for developers, long term, the blog is arguably the most important piece of the marketing strategy. I hope it'll serve as a source of knowledge, as well as an inspiration for other developers to start blogging! ๐ค
While the blog isn't fully powered by Vrite just yet, all articles were written using the Vrite editor, testing and improving the writing experience!
With 500+ emails on the waitlist already, I can only hope the blog will accelerate this growth further as we get closer to launch and look into the future! ๐
If you're interested in web development, definitely check out the content that's already there: https://vrite.io/blog
Time to set things clear!
Vrite Beta will launch on February 21st. Mark the date โ๏ธ๐๏ธ
With this initial release, we hope to gather valuable feedback from all the users to validate the idea and further develop and improve the product.
If you're interested in trying out a new kind of headless CMS, designed with developers and technical writers in mind and focused on user experience, be sure to follow the project on Twitter and sign up for the waitlist ๐ https://vrite.io
At this point, it's kind of getting ridiculous ๐
A lot has happened since the last update here. Currently, there are over 400 emails on the waitlist and followers on Twitter. Additionally, Vrite has landed in the top 3 Google search results for "vrite", successfully establishing the search query. There's also meaningful progress in development as we're reaching the February/March launch date.
It's surely a lot of work but the effects are clearly visible. While numbers and statistics are good, most rewarding are direct messages from interested people, giving feedback on the idea and providing motivation to push forward. ๐ฅ
I'm very much looking forward to meeting the expectations and collecting valuable feedback as we move closer and closer to the Beta release. ๐
If you're looking for a headless CMS for your programming blog and haven't waitlisted already definitely do so here ๐ https://vrite.io
You can also drop some pre-launch ideas and feature requests here, through email or in DM on Twitter. โค๏ธ
The waitlist for Vrite has grown a lot in the last week. Thanks to continuous promotion and Facebook ads, the list is already >210 emails strong! That's over 100% more than the 100 emails I intended to have by the end of the year.
While this and development of Vrite is going well, I've identified another goal worth pursuing - to establish "Vrite" as a keyword and reach the top 3 of Google search results for the same query.
Right now, vrite.io is at the third page of results - already 3 pages higher than it was ~2 weeks ago. Given that the top results aren't very special, it should be possible to get to the top page within the next month - especially with the launch of the blog!
If you're interested you can look out for more updates on this in the future!
Also, join the waitlist if you haven't already ๐ https://vrite.io
When launching the landing page for Vrite (https://vrite.io) on Dec 7th 2022, I set a simple goal for myself - to get over 100 emails on the waiting list before the end of the year.
While not many people in my circles believed it was possible, I did my best to make it happen. Thus, you could only imagine how I felt when I saw my goals realized this Christmas - with over 120 emails on the waitlist! ๐๐๐ฅ
---
I want this to be an example - for both future me and everyone reading this - that, given enough work and dedication, you can achieve pretty much anything you want. ๐ช
As for Vrite - this is only the beginning. Now it's the time to accelerate the marketing and work on bringing the first beta version into reality!
So, let me set the next goals straight:
๐ release the first beta version;
๐ช get 1000 people on the waitlist or on the first beta;
๐
achieve all that before March 1st, 2023;
Thank you all for the positive feedback on Vrite (https://vrite.io) โค๏ธ It looks like there are many blogging developers and teams out there in need of a better tool for the job! With all the emails on the waitlist, Twitter followers, and especially personal emails you've all been sending to [email protected], we feel even more empowered and eager to bring you this product. ๐
While the official target date for beta remains Q1 2023, we hope to accelerate the development efforts over the coming weeks. ๐
Vrite - developer-first headless CMS - has crossed over 110 followers on Twitter (https://twitter.com/vriteio) after only 2 weeks since the landing page launched. Personally, for me, as a founder, it's an enormous success! ๐
On the other hand, I'm at ~80 emails on our waiting list. The plan was to hit 100 by the end of the year so I'm definitely on track! ๐ The plan is to accelerate this even further next year when I start to reveal the product...
For the time being, check out the landing page if you're interested - https://vrite.io
The plan is to build a headless CMS with all the features individual devs or entire teams would need to run their technical blogs much faster and easier than with traditional tools!
If this sounds useful to you, definitely hop on the waitlist! ๐
Vrite - developer-first headless CMS - is still early in development. We've begun building a waitlist at https://vrite.io (sign up if you're interested) and are looking forward to launching the first beta in Q1 of 2023. ๐
Now, there's a full list of features we'd like to implement over time in Vrite, but the top ones are:
We won't be revealing the full, detailed list just yet, but we'd like to hear from you. If you're running a personal or company blog focused on software development or programming in general - what would you like to see in your dream CMS? ๐ค
Let us know and consider joining the waitlist to potentially see your request come true! ๐ฆ
