Search and Filtering

Bjørn Lindholm @bjornlindholm

It's been a quiet for the last few months but I've finally launched the next big feature.

The new feature is a search page with the ability to search for conference names as well as filters like location, duration of the conference, topics and price.

This was one of the features I originally wanted but postponed so i could launch earlier. I think the value of this feature will increase when the site has more conferences and I collect more data around each conference.

Right now the site has just over 200 conferences but I hope to increase that rapidly in the coming months. I'm planning to hire someone to do data entry for the site.

In the last month I published an article about the tech stack of the site on dev.to which resulted in around 350 page views that day. I'm currently writing another article about the implementation of the search feature which I'll also post to dev.to.

After I've published the search article I have 2 primary focuses. Finding someone to do data entry for the site is the first one. The reason for this is that I already have a spreadsheet of about 400 conference names and websites. But adding them to the site takes a long time and I feel that my time would be better spent adding new features.

The other focus will be improving the information that is displayed for each conference on the site. Right now the plan is to add related conferences and embed media from Twitter, Youtube or Instagram.
