After building curated websites for years I wanted to make it easy for everyone to curate content in the topics that interest them and publish the content to a website in minutes, no coding skills required.

April 16, 2019 Curate -> Filtered

Now that the the rush of the startup weekend is over, I've decided to revisit the name.

The folks at Curated.co had reached out and politely requested I use a different name.

After some brainstorming, I've decided on the name Filtered.

Although there are a couple of other companies using the Filtered name, they have nothing to do with content curation so I think I'm clear of any confusion.

Let me know if you like the new name!

March 31, 2019 Soft Launch for Startup Weekend

I'm very pleased to announce the soft launch of CurateFYI.

I'm sure there will be many bugs to fix, but I'm very happy with what I've been able to develop during Startup Weekend Troy.

I hope you signup, create a site and start curating and sharing content.

March 29, 2019 How Curate Will Work 馃

I wanted to share a little more detail about how Curate will work.

If you curate content already I'm sure you spend a lot of time reading blogs, medium publications, and social media to find amazing content to share with you audience.

Curate will take the hassle out of finding and sharing that content.

--

Step 1

Visit curate.fyi and signup for an account.

Step 2

Add a new site, you'll need to decide on a name <yoursitename>.curate.fyi

2.1 Optionally, you can customize your site with a logo, and select from a collection of themes (There will be at least 2 themes at launch)

Step 3

Add the sources you already read to Curate. At launch we will support:
RSS, Medium and Twitter (more to follow)

Curate will automatically collect content from those sources and provide them to you in a simple to scan list.

Step 4

Curate your content, and decide what you want to share with your audience.

Step 5

Share you new site with your audience!

That's it!

In a matter of minutes you can have a great looking website sharing your curated content, with no coding required.
If you have any suggestions for features or content sources please share your feedback below.

I'm building Curate in my favorite web development framework: Laravel.

The website will be hosted on Digital Ocean droplets, managed with Laravel's Forge.

Subscription payments will be handled by Stripe.

At the beginning of the year I was frustrated by the cold Upstate New York winter, so I tweeted looking for someone to pay to fly me out to somewhere with warmer weather, in exchange I'd build their MVP for them.

Although I wasn't serious I got a couple of responses. One of which came from Hiten Shah.

He wanted me to build a content curation website for him. After some back and forth, and a few weeks of development, we we able to launch Product News.

Although most people don't see it there is a CMS that allows Hiten and his partners quickly aggregate and curate content from over 50 sources.

As I showed what I had built to others, the expressed a desire to use have something similar for their own areas of interest.
