I am no mental health expert but having experienced burnout more than once nudged me to find ways to live and work with more intention, lead a balanced life and understand myself better.

This is why Dear Self exists.

August 25, 2020 First 10 subscribers

A tiny milestone in small project - 10 subscribers that are not friends or family! 🍾

I'm so thrilled that they've trusted it and committed to the 30 days of journaling for burnout relief. Now let's see how many actually make it to the end.

Good start, excited to see it grow!

August 19, 2020 Going live

I've always loved writing but struggled with consistency. For me, writing is a way to understand myself better and process everything that is happening in life.

I've started journaling so many times but never could make it into a habit. The idea to create a set of journaling prompts came to me in April. I know that there are plenty of apps like the 5-Minute Journal that are quite similar but I wanted to create something just for myself to create a lasting habit. But got busy with other things and postponed it until a better day.

But a better day turned out to actually be a worse day. I've recently experienced burnout but was lucky to notice it early. Thinking about the ways to get through it made me revisit the idea of journaling again.

So I did my research, found 30 prompts to keep myself busy writing for a month and scheduled them - nothing too complicated. After a while I thought that there can be other people who can use it too, so I gave it a bit better look and turned into a Dear Self project.

If you are struggling to sleep, having trouble concentrating and feeling disconnected, you might be experiencing burnout too. Journaling might not cure you of burnout, but it can help you understand yourself better and prevent it from happening again.

These prompts are free, but if you are feeling like supporting a fellow create you can get me a coffee ☕
