More insights about the scope, goal and milestones of this exciting project in following blog post:
To infinity and beyond!
I am really excited about this new feature and all its possibilities. It also makes me happy to finally be able to resolve a community's request which was suggested back in August 2019, when were still in Beta 😅.
The plugin probably needs some more improvements, that's why I count on you to help us shape it. Ping me with your issues and best ideas in its GitHub repo.
To infinity and beyond!
P.S.: The plugin is also on Product Hunt today.
I am thrilled to unveil the new community and user feature of DeckDeckGo which introduces quite a cool new feature:
💻 develop your own custom templates
✏️ use these with our web editor
In need for slides that matches brand identity or looking to use your favorite web technologies while still being able to edit the slides' content with a WYSIWG editor, that's new possible! It's like Code meets No-Code 😉.
This new version introduces also many other improvements:
🤙 new community template "countdown"
↘️ new default template "content aligned bottom"
✍️ edit styles with CSS
🪄 format painter
💅 width, rotate and padding styles editable
🚪 keep track of panels state (open / close)
🎨 new design of the editor's tools
⚙️ massive bump and clean up of the infrastructure

Our community now has a home on GitHub!
We are going to support soon custom users' and community's templates in our web editor, therefore it felt natural and useful to create an org for the templates and tools driven by the developers and maintainers 🚀.
It contains currently three templates and one experiment and, we hope that in the future, through our upcoming new feature, more great projects will be shared 🤞.
Two months ago we released a major breaking change and today we double down just before Xmas 🎄.
This release aims to split the static content of our editor. That way, the landing page, rebuild from the ground up is not part of the application itself anymore. In addition, it adds the foundation to translate our platform in the future.
Merry Christmas and all the best for 2021.
Take care and stay safe.
P.S.: I tweeted about it, spread the word 🙏.
Our editor for slides is now available in the Microsoft Store too 🥳.
We develop our apps with the web but it is kind of cool to be able to publish our PWA in both the Microsoft Store and Google Play anyway and with the exact same code base.
In addition, it doesn't need much effort because the PWA Builder really ease the all process and for free, so kudos to them 👍.
If you've got any questions, let me know, happy to share my experience if it can help.
I am thrilled to unveil the new major version of DeckDeckGo, the open source editor for slides 🥳.
🧙vertical and papyrus animation
☁️ word cloud
💅 lots of new styling options
⏩ auto slide
📝 full-screen editor improved
🎨 new color picker
... and many more new features!
Give it a try 🔥
I read the accumulated number of anonymous and registered users twice but indeed, as of this week, there are now more than 10k people who have used or tried out DeckDeckGo, the open source editor for slides 🥳
Moreover, we reached this milestone without a single penny invested in ads 💪.
Even though numbers are not what's drive me, as I am more attached to being close to our small community and developing unique features, it definitely makes me happy to notice our small growth path.
Thanks everybody 🙏.
P.S.: We don't have analytics, but I find these numbers in the Firebase Auth console, corresponding to the sum of anonymous and registered users.
It's a fun project to learn and improve my skills. It's also really interesting to share and exchange with the open source community.
