+183 Paid FB and +64 Paid Twitter followers

Hi community,

As you remember we changed our FB and Tw Ads strategy 2 days ago and I like to share our results with you.

After 2 days we got +183 Facebook followers and +64 Twitter followers.
The cost for Facebook follower varies from $0.29 to $1.63 depending on the country.
The cost for Twitter follower varies from $3 to $6 depending on the country.

I noticed a boost of twitter referral traffic but still the price for twitter follower is sky-high and uneconomical. I will monitor it for one more day and then analyze what we get at the end.

In my opinion paying to build a following on FB isn’t a good strategy since organic reach is almost dead.

If I were you I would use FB ads to grow your email list 😉

I would second @andreabosoni here. Don’t pay to build your following on someone else’s platform, unless you can transfer them ultimately to your own (like an email list). Otherwise you risk losing it all at the flick of FB’s switch.

Hi Gil, I'm reading part 1 of your no backlinks case study... cool stuff! 😀

Hi Andrea, can you please share the link?

        2. 1

Haha thanks a lot! I'm actually planning on putting out Part 3 in a few weeks, when the site will be one year old. It's doing even better than expected!

Just curious, where can I read it?

You can check out part 1 at our case studies page: https://www.discosloth.com/case-studies/starting-site-from-scratch-and-getting-traffic-without-backlinks.html

Part I covers the first couple months, 0 to 1250 visitors. Part II is to 2500 visitors after 6 months. And when I put out Part III, we'll be a year in and have around 4-5k visitors/mo.

Great! I'm waiting to read part 2 before asking you some questions 😉

We do that, but got pretty high cost. We decided to stop campaigns and wait until we have our product ready.
Otherwise we get subscribers and then we don't know how they gonna convert to trials.
We also considered that email open rate is around 20-40%. This means we lose 60%.

Until you've got followers who have positively responded to your offering (clicked on your links, signed up for your product, paid for use, etc), you can't reasonably say you've gotten any results from your campaign.

Facebook is very good at finding people who might follow your page, like your posts, but never purchase or convert into a value-added customer giving you a false sense of campaign success. This is why having a clear conversion goal like purchase or a custom conversion like email sign up is extremely important.

Definitely drive your users to an email list and identify which ones are likely to be profitable by analyzing behavior by tagging actions using a tool like Drip or ConvertKit.

Also one other thing I would look at in your FB campaigns is location - prefer tier 1 countries as most people have higher disposable income and are, in general, easier to manage customers. Avoid Worldwide until you've got your offering nailed down.

So true! A big following doesn't automatically increase conversion rates.
Although, I understand ads are cheaper if the CTA goes to a fb fan page. So do your fb ads link to an external site which is a landing page with a email signup?

Curious to see how engaged those followers will be. Do you have any idea on what kind of funnel you are going to set up to reel those followers in as customers?

p.s.: Saw you were doing stuff on Twitter when i got retargeted yesterday ;-)

      Hi Wouter,

Our funnel looks like this https://prnt.sc/p2m5ln

We also plan to share our content on social media.

Not sure how it will work
