This is a project I've been working on since the start of Covid-19. I built an app so that I don't have to put data into online tools like JWT debugger, JSON formatter, URL decoder, etc...

September 5, 2021 $100 MRR on the Mac App Store

The growth is not fast, but steady, and that's all I want! 😊

It took me 7 months!

I should probably ask the users to leave reviews on the App Store more often. From what I see, the reviews help a lot in terms of App Store view impressions.

Working on that.

May 10, 2021 I got 10 subscribers on the Mac App Store!

Such a weird milestone, but I'm happy!

Roughly 2 months ago, I changed my pricing model on the Map App Store from one-time purchase ($60) to subscription ($25/year). Nobody buys my apps anymore.

And now, I finally get 10 subscribers! It all happens in the last 2 weeks!

October 3, 2020 Share to Product Hunt

After a week since the launch, I gathered feedback and update the app and the landing page a bit. Then I share the app to Product Hunt.

https://www.producthunt.com/posts/devutils

There weren't many comments on the post, but it managed to reach ~100 votes, and get itself to #3 product of the day. I consider this a success.

I have no idea how many orders did I get from Product Hunt since I don't add any kind of tracking code to the landing page.

September 27, 2020 Share to Hacker News

I post the app to Hacker News https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24604291

I think I got lucky, the post gets to the frontpage, and stays there for about 1 day. People share a lot of interesting ideas, overall positive feedback.

I got ~100 orders from the launch. The first order came in only a few minutes after the post, it's awesome!

September 15, 2020 Create a serious landing page

After a few months of testing the app and gathering feedback from my friends, I decided to publish the app somewhen in September or October. In order to do that, I'll need a more serious landing page.

The new landing page is somewhat short, I don't have much time to spend on it, but I know it is important. I decided to go with the simple landing page approach: minimal info, try to explain clearly, no scrolling needed.

I posted a few posts on IH to gather feedback:
