Have you ever planned to go to a store/restaurant but you wanted to see their food/prices/portion sizes online first? We got you covered.

May 18, 2020 100 Stores added & Eatradar Launch

The homepage explains everything about the web application but as a quick explanation, I wanted to provide a quick way for people to find restaurant menus online. You can then filter them by price, category, portion sizes, & more. There are also features for making finding food easier. I really wanted to emphasize having food names, images, store information, store photos, and the price available.

If you've ever wanted to look for a menu in detail but couldn't find that information online easily or at all, I want EatRadar to be the guranteed place to look.

I'm planning to add 5 - 20 stores each day from today.

Some features are still under development.

Toronto Stores only for now. If it succeeds then I will expand.

Hope you guys enjoy.

May 17, 2020 New features

Started developing for EatRadar in November of last year in 2019. Recently started adding a few new features that I've only added after receiving some feedback.

A common suggestion was to implement reviews into the website so that's what I started developing for. You can actually see an example if you click a menu item. It's not finished but it will be completed tomorrow.

Two other features i've added this week are:

  • The ability to view the inside of each store through images
  • A calorie counter which is still under development

I've added 65 stores so far. Most of my time has been spent developing so that part has been slow. I also have not publicly launched EatRadar. I am looking to launch after uploading 200 stores. This means each category should have about 13 stores. I will use this as a benchmark and start studying if theres an interest for this product.

January 24, 2020 EatRadar Launch! (IH launch)

I've decided that it was finally time to launch EatRadar. This was a solo project that I worked on since college of 2018 on and off.

I had actually released an application before this called PopularTO meaning Popular Foods in Toronto and that focused on the same concept but it was a very rough draft version of this site. You can see the sample here: https://imgur.com/a/w6WJQDz . I took the same idea and just expanded and re-vamped it into what it is now.

The homepage explains everything about the web application but as a quick explanation, I wanted to provide a quick way for people to find restaurant menus online. You can then filter them by price, category, portion sizes, & more. There are also features for making finding food easier. I really wanted to emphasize having food names, images, and the price available.

The overall roadmap is to expand to other cities if the app sees success. The initial launch city is Toronto where I am from. Toronto is a big city and there is a lot of potential here. Similar to Zomato, I gather information about menus and plug them into my website.

This is more of a soft launch to gather any type of feedback as I am still adding in stores. You can visit the website & app and try it yourself. The experience is slightly different on desktop & mobile until I completely port everything over.

Only "Lunch" section has a few stores. Each day I will add a few stores. 5 stores added a day is 35 stores a week and about 130 a month which is a great pace. Even just 100 stores is more than enough for users to browse and find things to try.

Any feedback is appreciated as that is the focus of launching now!

January 19, 2020 Approaching launch within the next few days

A lot has happened since my last update on December 26th, 2019. I last spoke about finishing the user account system which is great.

Continuing from there, I implemented a paywall for pro-only features and of course that took some work but it's all sorted now.

Next I proceeded to fix browser cross-compatability bug, and general bugs.

The last major thing was designing and creating a script that would allow users to submit new stores to EatRadar menu. I plan to moderate all submissions to make sure the information is accurate. In order to do so, I do not make the submission live immediately until someone goes over it to confirm it's data.

Here is an image of that submission page that will be available from within the app itself

The last thing to do is fix mobile display and I will be finally ready to launch EatRadar. This has been an interesting journey and I hope that people will give the application a try. I also hope that it will be an app that people will find useful in their day to day.

December 26, 2019 User account system implemented

Today I was able to implement the account system. People can now register and login :) (well after it launches)...

As the days countdown, it's becoming closer and closer to the official launch month. I'm planning to release the application in January. Hopefully by at least Jan 10th.

It's insane seeing my Trello completed list grow and things to do list almost become empty after a whole year of working on it!

The last things to do is mobile optimization, automatic system to insert stores, and notification system. Pretty simple as i've done it before but cheers to that.

December 24, 2019 Updated website copy & landing page

Hey posted a few days ago, received feedback and changed the website / upgraded as instructed.

few problems were:

  1. lack of explaining the application use
  2. what is the target audience
  3. non-ssl website
  4. readability issues
  5. non-proper cta button

Still facing the lack of email subscriptions issues. Only received 6 email subscriptions even though I had hundreds of unique viewers.

My goal is to help consumers navigate the jam-packed industry of restaurants and decide what is the best food/value for their money.

Question: Is my homepage product / app intention clear? Is it simply the lack of interest from people?

Still planning to launch in January with or without a lot of email list subscribers. If it does not pick up traction post-launch, I will mark it off as a portfolio project and move on.

Hope I could get some more feedback.

December 21, 2019 Landing page complete

I finally finished the landing page for my upcoming web app eatradar. It took a while to get the page working on multiple devices. Without a doubt it still has things to fix.

Let me know what you guys think about the page and idea.
