December 13, 2021 Crossed โ‚ฌ1k ARR

We added 300 EUR ARR recently and that took us across this very important first line of 1k.

I believe the reason for this upward trend is that we added a step-by-step onboarding to the app and are giving free credits at the end of the process for users to be able to test the paid features. We used to have a free trial with 10,000 credits, but it still required for people to add their credit card. By removing this unnecessary friction, we seem to have made it easier for people to test the AI features and make a decision to purchase.

The current free and paid subscribers are 100% organic as we're not doing any kind of marketing or promotions. This is of course bad, so I'm looking into what can be done to accelerate the process. Tutorials and me personally engaging on Twitter and LinkedIn seem to be the way to go for the momenta.

So far we've tried Facebook Ads (no result), Google Search Ads (had some results, but not great - only free users).

We'll also be doing an end-of-year sale. Any ideas on how to promote it?

July 19, 2021 We're doing great on Product Hunt

With 22 upvotes, we're in the 14th position for the moment. Come leave a comment: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/eden-photos-2

This is the second time we're launching on Product Hunt. The first time was a complete flop as we weren't actually prepared and did a sloppy job. It seems like we're doing better this time!

July 19, 2021 We're officially live

It's live ๐Ÿ˜…

Eden Photos is our app that lets you use AI to put the images on your computer in order and makes them searchable by tags.

A lot of thinking, coding and testing has gone into this. My special thanks goes to the whole team from Eden Tech Labs (https://edentechlabs.io)

I'd also like to thank the team from Imagga (https://imagga.com) for their continued support in bringing this to life!

This app is somewhat special for me. It is the first product I launched back in 2015. It was just a taskbar app at the time. It wasn't very successful but it had some clients and was generating revenue. And more importantly I learned so much from it.

In 2016 I started taking on client projects and built a development agency around that. Eden Photos got left behind and despite multiple attempts to revive it in the past 5 years it never moved past the concept phase.

Last year, during the pandemic and the lockdowns I found the stories of @levelsio, @yongfook, @AndreyAzimov and the whole bootstrapping indie dev community. This inspired me to focus on products again and here we are :)

Let's hope this is just the beginning of a streak of launches and that something will stick eventually.

We're currently live on ProductHunt as well, if you'd like to check us out https://www.producthunt.com/posts/eden-photos-2

November 24, 2020 Released first public beta for Windows

A lot of the reasons why we decided to go for a cross-platform solution for our desktop app are revolving around the fact that the Mac is currently not the only OS of choice for a professional that works with image files. On top of that, we believe that a lot of us have to deal with a lot of images, despite the fact that we're not pro photographers or designers. And not all of us are Mac users.

So, there it is. The Windows beta is available to download. You can get it here: https://edenphotos.io/download

November 6, 2020 Released 2.1.1 (beta)

We received feedback that some users are finding it hard to find how to provide feedback. There is a section for feedback in the settings screen of the app, but it was kind of hard to find. So, we added a shortcut to that on the main screen of the app.

October 29, 2020 Launched public beta

There were a few bugs that we had to squash, so the long awaited beta launch is finally here. So far, we've sent an email notice to about 150 subscribers and have shared it around on social media. I did also submit to r/startups, but I'm not really aware how the process there works, so I'm not sure I did a proper job.
Before the launch we sent out a form to gather feedback (https://survey.typeform.com/to/rFcSdxk2) and we got more than 40 replies so far.

Let's see how it goes. We have feedback fro Beta testers coming in already and it seems we're on the right track :)
