So with 180 signups for the book I pushed myself to start selling my book, even though only as an Early Access version, since it is not finished yet.
I sent an email to people on my list in the morning and I got my first ever sale online. I am so happy, if for anything that for the confirmation that, yes, it is possible!
I continued blogging in an effort to drive some leads to my book's page. The blog posts Which programming languages pay the most? I made my own salary charts... and Streaming video with FastAPI got me the last signups.
I am thinking now of other, less time-consuming acquisition channels. However blogging will be probably always always in the mix.
It might be a small number to some, but it is a great milestone for me. I mainly get signups through my blog and my last article Testing Python Applications with Pytest helped me get past one hundred.
The traffic to the website https://efficientdeveloper.com has been pretty low, but the conversion rate is good. Last time I checked it was about 15 %.
It has been a slow progress since the first real signup can be placed on 17.2. The signup numbers are low due to the low traffic on the website, but I think that the conversion rate is still okay, given how low the traffic is.
The more closer to the release day, the more information I will be sharing on the website and promoting it. My main occupation now is writing and being able to hopefully start selling the book in Q1 2021.
Still so much work ahead!
Previous versions of the website were very rustic so I finally got to create a more polished experience. I even drew my own illustration for it!
I hope that people will sign up more because it looks more professional and there is more information about the book now as well.
Check it out at efficientdeveloper.com!
The first website had several flaws that I wanted to address. First, it was not that clear what the contents of the book will be about, so I added a list of topics for the book. I also placed the sign up form directly on the page (instead of just a link) so that it is now easier for interested readers to sign up!
For some time now I have been working on a book about software development for beginner and mid-level developers called Efficient Developer. I recently put together a simple page where people can sign up if they are interested.
Really excited to get some first subscribers!
I want to write a book where I put all my developer experience to help people become efficient programmers and love their jobs.
