More than 50,000 episode ratings created by users!

I added the ability to register for a user account and rate episodes to Episode Ninja in early April 2019. It took just under 9 months to reach the milestone of 50,000 ratings created by users! There are currently a total of 625 registered users, so this works out to about 80 ratings per user.

Thats amazing stuff, your traffic numbers are absolutely insane!

Just curious, to be able to serve that many concurrent users, what are your infrastructure expenses like?

Thanks! Right now I run three AWS Lightsail servers - one for the backend rest API and database, one for the frontend, and one for processing jobs for updating the shows on the site periodically. The total bill should come out to about $50/month, but I was accepted into the now defunct AWS Activate Builders program and given $1000 in AWS credits about 18 months ago. I'm roughly 3 months away from running out of credits so I'll probably spend some time optimizing the infrastructure to be a little cheaper as that gets closer.

Thanks! I live and work out in the suburbs so unfortunately it's tough to make it to the meetups in Chicago after work. I would love to go some time though!

Super weird about the certificate issue you're seeing - I tested it on a few different computers and browsers and I'm not seeing it. Maybe try restarting your browser?
