Humanizing the Hiring Experience
I was let go from a job on Dec 17th, 2018. It was 7 days before Christmas and I found myself also without a home. BUT I met so many people who had such amazing stories that can't be shared in a resume.
So Fired Before Christmas podcast can be found on ALL your favorite podcasting platforms! Itunes, Spotify, Google, Castro, PlayerFM, etc, etc, etc! This was an absolute chore to complete and it really really makes me not want to start another podcast :) But hey I probably will anyway.!!
check out the new website (all prior links have been updated as well)
Published my first interview for the Fired Before Christmas podcast. She's a good friend of my wife's and her husband is one of my best friends. was a lot of fun and editing it was a beast as I had to learn the garage band tools, music, intro talking, outro talking.. so many pieces! but hey it's done and now the next one will be easier to do!!

Published my first podcast EVER. this one is more of an intro podcast that people can refer to when they want to learn more and get a good feel before they dive into a 30-60 episode. feels good to get it out there but now I need to edit a real episode!

Ok, I've got three interviews in the can ready to be edited.
I've got a guy working on some intro/outro music for me.
I'm pushing hard to get some more interviews lined up (hit me up if you read this and want to be on the show!!)
I put out some "Yea right" interview requests. IE people who will more than likely say "no" or ignore the request but hey YOU HAVE TO ASK!!!
My first interview went off without a hitch and I got a lot of great content. Editing is in progress!
I also had my first no show. it happens and was a bummer. I was looking forward to getting that 2nd interview recorded. No idea what happened as the guest has gone radio silent. No response to emails, no apologies, no hey I changed my mind messages.
The good news is I got to craft a template email for any future no shows!
Two more interviews scheduled for 4.22!
I've got 5 amazing people signed up to be interviewed on the podcast!
3 people seeking work (2 recently joined the search and 1 who's been searching for a couple of years!)
1 internal recruiter to help talk about strategy from his perspective and tips for people trying to get noticed
1 CEO who's going to help us all understand just how hard it is to not only hire great talent but let me go too!
I'm sure everyone will have something worthwhile for the community! I start recording Friday and I can't wait to get these captured, edited and published!
Sent out invites for 4 interviews. So far I've got 2 confirmed and 2 outstanding.
I also have a few leads on additional interviews I'd like to accomplish. I hope to close those soon as well.
If you or someone you know has been laid off and is willing to come on the podcast please share the URL with them!
I've got an interview tonight with the Caster Community run by IH @schoon! Looking forward to talking podcasting, unemployment and where this crazy named website got started, where it's going and anything else! If you're looking to get into podcasting you should check him out and follow his projects!
The first subscriber happened today. I posted a message on LinkedIn looking for potential interview candidates and also reached out to a friend who runs an unemployment support group. Out of that, I was able to snag 1 person to potentially interview! Hoping for more sign-ups today!
Setup this project on Indie Hacker today and added some historical timeline events just to give context. Got the landing page up as well and plan to send out a call for interviewees for the podcast! I can't wait to see what this generates and what kind of community evolves from this experiment!
