I built this product myself out of necessity. I saw that other digital nomads were interested in it, so I created assembly instructions and a landing page to sell them.

November 14, 2021 Two sales have been made

I have managed to sell two pdfs.
It's not much money (and you have to take out the taxes and payment gateway fees), but it's a validation that people are willing to pay for the assembly instructions.

Now I have to figure out how to reach more people.

October 10, 2021 I create a pdf with instructions

I discard the idea of manufacturing the product. It's too much work, too little margin and I don't have time for it. I prefer to program as a web developer than to cut cardboard and manage mailings.
After almost two months, and little time available for this ...
I have modified the landing, added affiliate links to amazon, created an instruction pdf and set up a paddle so people can pay for that pdf.

The project is now 100% digital. I am selling the instructions, not the finished product.

August 20, 2021 I create a landing page

Seeing that it has gone viral, I quickly create a landing page and buy a domain.
Result: nobody leaves me their email address.
A disaster. It does not serve as validation.
I start thinking about whether it makes sense to make it and sell it or not...

August 20, 2021 The photo shared on twitter goes viral.

Working at the coworking in Tallinn a guy comes up to me and asks me where I bought this portable desk. I tell him that I made it myself, and he takes some pictures.
I think to myself that if he likes it others might like it. I post it on twitter and level retweets it and it goes more viral than expected.
