Launched my favicon builder on ProductHunt

I decided to create some free tools to increase traffic to my website. I started with a free favicon maker where you can create letter-based favicons easily. I made it on the weekend and decided to launch it on ProductHunt today.

Here's the post on PH: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/free-favicon-maker

Love IT! It was jus what i was looking for! :)

My two cents, could be useful to add the possibility to choose the font weight; so we can choose to use bold or italic :)

p.s. i used it on IsRicherThanYou.com and it is really awesome!

Gald to hear that. I made my decision and version 2.0 would come soon. Bold and Italic will be there too ;)

      p.s. You've got a very nice favicon :D

Thank you so much. I'm on the first page of Hacker News, not sure why upvotes are so few on ProductHunt. Seem people love the Favicon Maker, I'd probably go for a version 2.0 with support for more designs in a few weeks later.

Oh cool, I upvoted there too. Yeah it might be because the product still has a very tiny scope, adding more features will certainly help. Also I'm not sure about how much of the HN community spends time on PH.

I'm glad to know that. I just launched a new tool to create a logo as well: https://formito.com/tools/logo

    My assumptions:

    1. favicon needs to be .ico format
    2. it needs to be named as favicon.ico
    3. It should be in /root folder

Am I right? So that we don't have to mention it separately in the html document.

    Can you support ico?

    1. 2

That's not required anymore. You can add the generated HTML code to head of your website if you're only building for modern browsers: https://caniuse.com/link-icon-svg

Otherwise, you can download the PNG format and just add that file as mentioned in https://www.w3.org/2005/10/howto-favicon
