A place for connecting founders to investors through games
A lot of Founders and VC's enjoy playing Fortnite. Matchbox.VC is inspired by a company that recently raised funding, where the VC and the founder had met in a game of Fortnite squads.
After a cease and decist letter from Epic Games this past week, we had to rebrand. Our new name is Matchbox.VC and new website is live at http://www.matchbox.vc
Now that we've had to move away from Fortnite anyways, we plan on adding another game to the platform sometime this coming week.
Epic Games doesn't like that the domain name I use is fortnite.vc. I got a cease and desist from one of their lawyers today. Which is fair, and completely expected, given that they do have a trademark on the name.
I'm going to rebrand as something new. I figure this will be a good opportunity to open up the platform to other games as well.

Over the past couple weeks, I've been working to automate the matchmaking process while maintaining quality. I've built a UI to help me match founders with VC's and then automate match emails out to them.
I've gotten some really positive feedback from people who have played games, with many founders asking for more matches.
I launched on Twitter Monday night (@fortnitefunding), and got 40k impressions and 300 followers off my first tweet alone.
I've had 100 people sign up already, and have been franticly working on matchmaking.

I finished building the MVP. It's very simple. Founders and investors can go to www.fortnite.vc and sign up. Once this happens, and they verify their email, I will manually match founders with investors to play.
After some deliberation, I decided on a $1,000 "scout fee" where if any investors invest in a founder that they meet through fortnite.vc I ask for a $1,000 fee. Perhaps this is too low. We will see.
All I'm waiting for now is for AWS to remove my email service from the sandbox, and then I will be able to launch.
I read on twitter about how Ramp Financial had raised $25 mil in funding, and their founder met the VC who lead the round through a game of Fortnite squads.
I figured there should be a platform for making this happen more often. Founders are very busy. Now they can work while they relax.
