Founder Events

3 weeks in and I've had 19 signups, with minimal advertisement.

What's been most surprising is just how enthusiastic people have been. Most subscribers send messages to thank me profusely for creating the newsletter. Not only is this rewarding as hell, but it's really motivating!

It occurred to me that I should also post the newsletter content on existing community forums, for extra visibility. So I shared on Indie Hackers and Elpha.

Interestingly, posting on Indie Hackers got me a few subscribers. Posting on Elpha got me a few messages from event hosts wondering if I could include their events in upcoming newsletters. Win win!

My first priority was starting. I didn't want to spend too much time setting up a website or complicated mailing list. I wanted the easiest option.

So I created a Substack newsletter and wrote some initial content for the "About Founder Events" page.

Then I compiled a list of events for the upcoming week and hit send. (Nervously, I might add).

The idea for Founder Events came to me after I attended an inspirational feedback session with a few fellow startup founders. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if I could attend more events like that one?

I looked around on the internet, but there wasn't one central place where I could see upcoming events geared towards founders and indie hackers. So I decided to start a newsletter!

Every Sunday, I will send out a brief email detailing interesting events for the upcoming week.
