Actually little late on the updates, but recently got first sponsor for my open source project Goodwork. This was a huge news for me regardless the amount. I didn't even thought about earning anything when I started this project 4 years ago. But knowing this that someone actually spent money on this means they found it useful is a great confidence booster.
While the first sponsor was on April 16, on the 22nd April got another sponsor. And the more wonderful news is the second sponsorship is coming from a place in Costa Rica where the app is going to be used by local governments for project management.
Looking forward to a day when I'm going to work full time on the Goodwork app.
Today Goodwork reached 1000 stars on Github. Celebrating every little achievements during this troubled times.
Never thought this little project of mine will reach this point when started. In business perspective this doesn't mean shit but still its an indication it has potential. Hopefully will have many more achievements in future.
Stay safe everyone.
Finally started building a saas app around my open source project.
Just deployed a landing page for early beta access subscription. I'm not really good with copy text but hopefully it'll work. Will add some more info about the product in next couple of days.
Unsure about the future but excited at the same time. Let's do this.
Today shipped a requested feature, filter option for task in task board. Task can be filtered by "Status", "Assigned Person", "Tag" and "Due On" date. Composite filter (combining two or more filter) is also possible. This helps to quickly find task when there are lot of them.
Today shipped an important feature to the app, in homepage show the current user their next due task with all the progress. Also show a list of other assigned task that are due after. This way user will see their current task on the homepage dashboard with needing to visit the project page and the progress chart will let them pick up where they left off yesterday without spending time to think what they're doing and what they're supposed to do next.
Today Goodwork reached 500 stars on Github. Though its not a huge achievement but its a indicator of usefulness or at least interest in the product. Its slowly growing and creating attention and hopefully that's gonna help the product when version 1 will be released.
Released a big update with lot of improvements and new features.
Release note: https://github.com/iluminar/goodwork/releases/tag/v0.9
Couple of major feature left to complete the app for v1.0 release. Also a lot of work on documentation and landing page will be done before the release.
The journey began on this day with a commit to Github. Some research and brainstorming happened before really started to code a month later.
I was very disappointed how work was managed at my workplace during that time and started looking for a better alternative to manage work and stumbled upon Basecamp. While I like their way of working, the software wasn't affordable for me and wanted to use something similar which is also open source. So I started to build one for myself. That's how Goodwork came to existence.
Goodwork helps software team to ship software faster and smoothly by taking out all the stress that are present in modern day software projects.
