Social Media

I always found it lame to wish birthdays or say thank you over social media. Digging more, I found that social media incentivizes "getting attention", so I decided to create social media for "paying attention".

November 28, 2021 Still fixing bugs

The functionality to use video capture and edit became too difficult to implement with flutter. Now the first release will not have the video feature.

Sucks but no other option. First release free soon, currently doing internal testing in Google Play

October 28, 2021 Development Complete

Wow, when in February I scrapped the first MVP, I changed the name of the app to GreetsApp.

As I was using flutter to build the app, there were many challenges, especially in the camera function department.

Now fixing the bugs and testing. Launching soon with small alpha users.

February 28, 2021 Scrapped and Pivoted

Well well, this was tough, I had the designs done, most of the code written but the application became very bulky. I learned that the idea of implementation can be tough.

You normally struggle to understand what would be the MVP. And my initial idea to launch with multiple vendors in New York City, fell flat. It was too expensive for a bootstrapped company.

September 15, 2020 Graduated from Founder Institute

Validated the idea, gave many mock pitches, and earned my graduation. The first 3 and half months with the founder institute were grueling.

Came out with flying colors, at this time I also started building the MVP. With no budget, i went the route of hiring interns and getting the work done.

May 18, 2020 Incorporated

Well, it was part of the Founder Institute journey to incorporate. I chose Stripe Atlas to do the incorporation in Delaware, USA.

I chose the US because incorporation in Switzerland requires to put down a minimum of CHF 50K, though you can use it for the company, I did not have disposable income.

Stripe atlas just cost me $250, they gave me a 50% discount.

March 25, 2020 Joined Founder Institute

Quit my job in Jan 2020, moved to Switzerland from Newyork and started working on the idea and launched it with Founder Institute. The game plan was to learn the ropes of startups and network with local people in Zurich. After 14 years in corporate companies, it made sense to start with an accelerator.

October 20, 2019 Came up with the idea

Why not make it simple for people to appreciate other people. Small gifts are sent between the husband and wife or when neighbors help each other. Basically, any moment of appreciation can be appreciated in a super-easy way with the app. I called it Zooby.
