We have more time to listen to podcasts than to read blogs, I wish all those super interesting blog posts were audio recordings, so, we decided to fix it.

January 30, 2011 Hear a Blog closes operations

The idea is working, we are getting tons of listeners, we are getting blogs to adopt us as their default way of generating audio content, we even got an advertiser. What we cannot get is funding. Investors keep asking us about Internet radio. The future is podcasting.

We calculated this could be profitable, but to get to it we would have to burn around $10k a month on narrations and servers. We are currently running out of our salaries (we spend less than $200/month), so, we can't scale it to profitability.

November 29, 2010 The Daily WTF

We became an official part of The Daily WTF, narrating some of its content, having our play widget embed in those blog posts. This meant a ridiculous amount of traffic. We are getting about 1 million audio downloads per month. Thankfully, our architecture can cope with that, but we had to do improvements.

April 3, 2010 Came up with the idea, got to work

We analyzed many different ideas for various products and we came up with this one. Both co-founders loved both blogs and podcasts and we wanted more content to be audio so we could consume it on the go, driving, working out, doing chores, etc. We are building it using .Net.
