We are looking for a Senior Full Stack JavaScript Developer to join our team as our first employee. As THE developer at Hiro, you will play a key role in reshaping the way in which people think about online learning.
You’ll take control of building out our software. This will include working with the existing product in collaboration with our current team, but also planning and executing the steps that will take Hiro to the next level.
Our developer Zack is mostly a back-end developer. We’re at a crossroads with our product where we need someone strong and experienced in full-stack dev to take over and help us build out a dev team as our needs grow.
You’ll work with myself and Zack to learn the ropes and take charge of our product. Where we take development from here – is up to what we come up with together.
We’re a young and growing company that aims to take over a very lucrative space in a unique way. What started as a pandemic lockdown experiment has now grown into a small but mighty startup backed by No-Fooling-Around Capital.

When I first designed and developed Hiro, I spent a few weeks registering all the features and designs with the US Copyright office. Although this was timely and expensive, it is certainly worth it.
Since launch, I've had awesome people reach out to me asking why Hiro and another product look so much alike "I don't see the difference..??" This, my friends, is infringement and why having my intellectual property protected so worth it.
Oh, I also have a patent pending too.
As soon as I knew that the BETA was a hit, I sat down with my sketchpad and started designing a more scalable version. A sexier version 💋
All self-funded, the new version is a complete redesign with hot new features. But this is just the start. Hiro has some hot ideas coming down the pipeline, along with our first round of seed funding.
I'm incredible grateful for all the talent that has helped Hiro come this far. As well as our first customers. I can't wait to spoil you with new and better features, as well as cool ways to bring traffic to your products!

Probably the biggest thing that got me here was endless customer support. I really pulled out all the stops to make sure my first customers had everything they need to be successful.
This lays the foundation for the company culture that is growing. We are nothing without our customers!
It's been a fun trip to get here, but Hiro.fm just passed 200 signups! This has been the result of several efforts, including blogging, social media marketing, press, and podcast appearances.

Financing the entire project out of my own pocket, I outsourced the development and did all the product design, marketing, and branding myself. The MVP had a few more features than I originally scoped - these were necessary for early adaptors.
My first customers came from soft launching with a Facebook post. I also ran a few adds which helped with our targeted 150 first customers in the first four weeks.
Building an MVP is like packing - you leave out half of the stuff you want and double the money. My scope ended up bigger than I hoped, but I still managed to ship in just a couple of months since the first product mockups were created.
Our USP is allowing episodes to "drip" out rather than be date released. We also allowed episodes to "expire" so there is urgency to listen. Installing the private podcast was just one button. And adding your listeners was automatic. These features were essential for those early adapters.
