First week stats & 100 plants added
by martintbAs today marks 1 week since I quietly opened up registration I thought I'd share some stats from the first week. Considering the only marketing I've really done is by posting the odd thing on a relevant subreddit I'm pleasantly surprised at the return.

My initial aim was to get an MVP live which I did, I also now have some feedback from the first users. My new aim is to improve the landing page to help convert more users to registrations. I'm also working on a Stripe integration and new features so I can begin to charge for an upgraded plan with extra features, keeping the current functionality free.

Very specific niche! What are your plans for monetization? Also more info/screenshots on the sign up page would be nice.

For monetization I'm going to add monthly plans (with discounted annual) which will give the user more advanced info they can add to their plant as well as the option to add a picture too.
Initially I was building this to scratch my own itch and also wanting something to build and focus on outside of my day job, so I wasn't really intending on releasing it and making anything from it. It's also helped me learn the various parts I need to make future SaaS products (authentication, Stripe integration etc) which I'd not done previously so even if I don't gain many paid subscribers, I consider this a successful project as I can use it as a framework for my next idea.
I'm currently hosting on free tiers of Netlify and Heroku so other than the domain name, ongoing costs are free!

Great app!
I've just put it on my to-check list. Do you provide some intelligence on how to grow plants? For instance, X plant should be watered 2 times a week, or should get direct sunlight, etc.?-

Not at the moment as I’ve struggled to find an API I can use for this info but I’m hopefully of finding something eventually!

I'm basically in the same boat with my exercise app. Made it for me, but put it out there. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks! It's really put my mind at ease that this was worth building, I just wish I'd perhaps made a better landing page to convert a higher number of users but you have to open up the door at some point 🤷🏻♂️
Hopefully users will stick around now and find it worth paying a small monthly fee for when I've added a few more features.

This is a nice project. I have just signed up.
Would be nice to have a list with names of the plants in the drop-down. It would make it easy to add many of them at the same time. Oh and the rooms too.Nice job! Keep working on it!

Monetising too early?
I would have looked for more usage/longer retention & usage stats to derive monetisation strategy.
