Org Chart software that integrates with Slack
After going through a few mergers at my first company and feeling the frustration of not know who to contact when you need to solve a problem, I thought that there had to be a better way, that's why I built Huey
Huey is not an app that I think would do great on ProductHunt but nevertheless I thought it would be good to launch it on there.
Ultimately, I should have been a bit more prepared with premade posts for all of my social networks. I probably could have gotten a few more upvotes that was.
I decided that I hate using WordPress and recently stumbled upon @alexanderisora Unicorn Platform which is much easier to work with. Since I don't really have any traffic yet, I thought I might as well rip off the bandaid and do the change now.
I think the new site looks a lot cleaner
I used Onlinejobs.ph to hire this VA. In my last business, we used an agency so it will be interesting to see how this works out. I have a pretty good workflow for hiring, at this point. I'm almost done writing an article on the process. I'll share it when I'm done. I will need to set some goals and reviews periods soon. I'll post that as I come up with the plan. Either way, I think that she is going to work out great.
Right now, I've got her working on creating knowledge base articles for the app. I'm recording Loom videos and she is transcribing and screenshotting for the knowledge base articles.
I'll be training her on the app so that she can eventually make the videos herself. I'm hoping that she will become even more proficient at the app than I am. - that is a lesson that I learned in my last business. It's better if your people are better at an aspect of your "thing" than you are. That means that you can rely on them to get shit done without your input (bottleneck)
Finally posted a youtube video of some basic functionality of the app. I wanted to keep the video under 1 minute so that there is a chance that Google will pick up the video for the new "Short Videos" section in search results.
I'm hoping to eventually rank for, "How to make an org chart in Excel"
I had tons of great ideas for names, the problem was all of the domains were taken and very expensive. I decided on Huey because I thought it would be cool to be able to refer to the app as a name, like Siri, Alexa, etc. Also, since my app is connected to the Human Resources space, "Huey" felt like a good name.... And it's fun to say.
After coming up with a few ideas for a new business. I decided to build this one since it was closest to me at the time and seemed like there was a hole in the market.

I found a US-based developer on Upwork and got started
