So i've reached a point where i'm ready to close my funding round, currently i have £5,600 and a backer with an offer of $10k (and money still coming in).
I'm so glad i did this funding round, even though i've had a bit of backlash from people who don't know me and think it could be a scam - which is completely fair because lifetime hosting is unsustainable as an ongoing business model.
I think they just thought that the company was all about lifetime deals and didn't look into the fact i've been around for a long time. This caused some heated conversations on Facebook groups.
However during this time my traffic has spiked, sales have increased and existing customers are paying bills that previously looked un redeemable.. So my guess is that there is no such thing as bad publicity as they say! 😂
That said, it's never been my intention to keep offering lifetime plans, it was a one off just to get a cash injection, which completely worked. The side benefit is also more links from social media, more traffic and more exposure. I would recommend this to anyone doing a SAAS solution. If you do it with a metered product perhaps offer a limited number explicitly and explain why it's sustainable for you to do so - this way you wont need to fire fight all over social media like i have been trying to do.
If anyone would like to grab one of the remaining lifetime accounts just drop by!
