April 3, 2020 April Update

Before getting into what is planned for the month ahead, I'd like to reflect on some of the highlights from March.

  • March 5th, InDexter was approved for listing in the Slack App Directory (huge milestone!).
  • March 18th, I started the "launch announcement" on Product Hunt. The primary goal of this was to get as many eyes on InDexter as possible and receive feedback. The announcement Product Hunt resulted in a huge spike in traffic to the website (https://index-labs.com) and a few more additions to the userbase (awesome!).
  • User growth has been slowly increasing, which is truly amazing! That might sound bad, but it is exactly what I want. InDexter is a new service (only 2 months old now) and I am (kind of obsessively) watching how it reacts to more users so that I can resolve issues as they arise. If hundreds or thousands of users flocked to it overnight, most of my time would then be allocated to scaling resources instead of building helpful new features. Think tortoise vs the hare.
  • Many new WooCommerce features! As I stated before in the March mid-month progress update, I've enabled 2 new notification types for WooCommerce (order updates, new customers) and you can turn them on/off from the dashboard.

Now looking ahead to April, work is progressing as planned on a few new features coming soon, including:

  • New commands - You'll soon find more tools at your disposal to quickly access sales data. Additionally, I'm working on a proper guide to catalog and use all of these commands.
  • New notifications - I'm diligently working on adding more types of Stripe notifications (as well as a dashboard mechanism to toggle them).
  • Usage stats - You will be able to see how many messages InDexter has sent you.

Plus many behind the scenes fixes/adjustments.

More soon to come!

March 17, 2020 Mid-Month Progress Update

Hard to believe we're already halfway through March! This has already been a very productive month. Work has been steadily progressing on new features, better stability, and user growth.

Now for the exciting news -- InDexter has been approved for the Slack App Directory! This means more visibility for InDexter and we get to be featured alongside the many great Slack apps already in the directory -- link to our directory page https://slack.com/apps/ATC9C8JF2-indexter

The process was great and Slack is very thorough, but I'm very excited about this accomplishment.

Additionally, I've released a few new features:

  • When a WooCommerce order has been updated, you'll receive a notification for it.

  • When a new customer registers to your WooCommerce store, you'll receive a notification for it.

  • Ability to toggle which WooCommerce notifications you receive from the InDexter dashboard. Depending on the level of traffic your site gets, these notifications can be a bit noisy, so now you can turn them on/off.

I'm diligently working on releasing more features and squashing more bugs in the next couple of weeks - I'll keep you all updated.

That's all for now!

March 3, 2020 Stable release v0.1.1b and Slack distribution

A great way to kick off the month of March - the InDexter app is now officially live!

We've emerged from our alpha development phase and we're now in a stable public beta release. What does this mean, exactly? The major bugs have been tracked, cataloged and fixed (there are other bugs out there and we're hunting for them).

Users can now sign up and install InDexter in their own Slack workspaces and enable eBay, Stripe and/or WooCommerce. (I've been using the service for my own needs and it's quickly become one of my go-to tools in my own toolkit).

What's next for InDexter?

Adding more Slack commands - Commands are what make InDexter so great, and soon there will be more of them at your disposal.

Slack App Directory - We are currently in the process of getting into the Slack app directory.

This is just a small step but a huge milestone for InDexter's journey.

January 30, 2020 Landing page is live!

Landing page is now up and running! https://index-labs.com. There is still much to do/add to the landing page and not all of the links are accurate yet (I know, probably not the best look.) But if anyone finds or lands on the domain name, you will be greeted by a spiffy welcome page giving a sneak peak of the features.

More to come and hope you all enjoy!

January 5, 2020 Finished planning, domain name acquired.

After a couple of months, I've finally finished planning out the initial features I want to include in the InDexter MVP. I bought up the index-labs.com domain name and have begun the infrastructure build-out (hosting, CDN, database, etc).

Now to dive into programming the platform!
