We did a simple analysis of vocabulary, kanji, and grammar items reviewed in each textbook (the most popular ones with greater than 4 star ratings on AMZN) and the results are very interesting.

Our main finding suggests that intro books that really slack try and teach you mostly nouns without a lot of grammar foundation. On the other hand, a lot of more advanced books tend to focus on Kanji and although their grammar items jump up to about 200 per book, there are still a lot of gaps.
