August 9, 2021 Desktop app finally accepted on the Mac App Store!

It was quite a tedious process. It started on Jan 26, 2021 at 8:40 PM and after multiple rejections, it got accepted on Aug 9, 2021 at 1:43 PM and that is after making an appeal to the App Review Board on the last rejection! I learned that making an appeal and sticking to your gun is the right thing to do when you believe you have respected all the apple guidelines.

Their main concern, which was a valid one, was that there was not a big enough difference between the desktop and browser experience. I had to add multiple native functionalities to make it go through!

August 6, 2021 Got my first user!

I was in the final steps of my KissTodo MVP and was starting to think about launching soon, but then saw that IH recently added a mandatory invitation code at sign up.

Courtland tweeted about this new mandatory invite code and replied something like "Oh no! I was about to create an account for launch soon". A kind soul saw my comment and offered to send me one.

We started DMing and then I told her what I was working on and BAM first user :)

September 19, 2020 Switched front-end framework to Vue 3!

I hated everything about React. I dislike JSX with all my soul lol!

I've stayed with Vue ever since, mainly because at some point you gotta start getting shit done and pondering over what front-end framework to use isn't the wisest thing to do. Furthermore Vue is still pretty good, although Svelte (Kit) stays #1 in my heart.

September 6, 2020 Switched front-end framework to React!

Svelte did not handle deeply nested data structures well in its stores. While that is a Svelte limitation, I later found out that it's way better for objects in a store to be flat. I recall I saw this in the Redux documentation and it meant all the sense in the world!

September 1, 2020 Started working on the project!

On this date, I create the first repo for KissTodo, which at the time had no name yet.

It was a svelte repo, with only a back end. I really love Svelte and Sapper (now Svelte Kit). It's a minimalist and lightweight framework that is really in line with my ethos for KissTodo :).
