Logo mockups are available (website, app, social)

A lot of people mentioned their frustration to only see their logos as is, and not on real-life mockups. They were scared to not know how to use it on their website or business card.

So we’ve spent the last month creating advanced mockups of a web launch page, app screen, business card, and social media.

logology various mockups

As always, we went way too far into details 😅. The business card shows an imaginary url of your startup (parsed from your brand name), while the social media description is generated from your brand questionnaire score.

We tried to make it super quick and fun to use (<4 seconds to generate each time) so that people can play with different fonts and colors easily until they find the perfect style.

If you want to have a look, just pick a logo and hit « preview result », it will be generated on the fly.

Let me know if you have ideas to make it better!

Note: If you haven't played with Logology yet, getting started only takes ~5minutes. Just answer a few questions about the values of your startup and we'll automatically figure out which branding is best for you. You can then choose from our 500+ original designs.

Awesome product design. Knowing the challenges I went through on my instant logo maker, I really appreciate all the details and creativity you built into Logology. Cheers!

Thank you, I really appreciate it!

This is great! Love the new feature. As a user, itt makes it feel like you're going the traditional route and getting a full set of deliverables from an expensive design agency.

It might be technically difficult, but I'm wondering if it might be more valuable to combine it with the previous step?

    Here's what I'm thinking:

Looking at the funnel, it looks like it's:

    1. View all proposals
    2. Deep-dive into single proposal
    3. Preview branding (this feature)
    4. Check out

I'm assuming the goal of this feature is to get more users through funnel to convert into paid users.

I'm not an expert on the product by any means, but I'm guessing the previous version was 3 steps (users jumped from 2 to 4 in funnel above).

This doesn't change much about step 2 (just the button copy in the bottom right). If users were falling off here before, my guess is that they'll continue to fall off now at about the same rate (and not even see the new "Preview Branding" step).

To get more users through the checkout screen, there are 2 ways to think about it:

    1. With the same # of users reaching the checkout screen, how do we get more of them to convert?
    2. How do we increase the # of users reaching the checkout screen?

The current approach focuses more on (1). This makes sense, but I think there is a greater opportunity in (2).

My hypothesis would be that by adding the "preview branding" feature as an additional section in step 2, more (total) users will proceed to the next step. It might be that 30% more users get to the checkout screen, but 10% fewer users convert. But something like that would be a net positive.

But I'm not trying to throw out the current implementation! I think it adds a lot of value as-is and definitely makes it feel like a premium service. Just concerned that users won't see it to realize that value.

Thank you for such a thoughtful feedback! You’re right that this feature is built to appeal to our most invested users, that was on purpose 😁.

The reason is that we have a ton of people who just come to our website to try it out, but have little need for a logo. They are gonna take a lot of work to convert. However we also have a few people who need a logo right now (or soon) and spend time customizing different proposals.

Yet we still lose them in pretty high numbers, so we asked them why.

One of the main things that they told us is that they are afraid they won’t be able to use their logo properly. They love our work, but they’re just not confident in their design skills, and we didn’t provide enough help. They didn’t think that they’d be able to create a good looking website or business card by themselves. We’ve had people who told us « yeah I love it but I won’t be able to use it so bye ».

When we realized that, and knowing that we also lose other people earlier in the funnel, we thought about what to prioritize. Should we focus first on fixing the beginning or the end? Since it was our most invested users, it seemed like we just needed to fix that one thing to unlock their purchase. For people earlier in the funnel, it seemed less obvious. This whole idea of focusing on high-intent users was helped by this awesome article.

Now for next steps: I love your ideas about improving the rest of the funnel 🤩!

With this latest change, it seems like almost everyone who clicks on a logo then clicks on « preview result » (so we don’t lose anyone between step 2 and 3). Our hypothesis was that it’s a very low investment task, and so people wouldn’t be afraid to try it. We’ll see how this pan out after more visits though, as it might just be the novelty effect.

If it does confirm itself though, what I’ve noticed for a while is that we lose a lot of people right at the beginning (step1). They just never pick a logo from the list! After asking why, it seems like they either:

      1. don’t see any relevant proposals in the selection provided
      2. find the logos too « generic looking » and boring

For the first one, we’re working on a way to search our catalog way more freely, this should help the many people who don’t find what they want right away.

For the second one, it’s seems like it’s mainly a matter of perception. Of course some people will never like our style, but many just aren’t able to see how cool a logo is just by looking at colored designs. They need to be shown what it will look like in the real world with mockups. Even for me, before I did Logology, was never able to tell a « good logo » from a bad one just by looking at the symbols.

So we’re thinking of two things for next steps:

      1. A way to browse logos freely from the index page (on top / next to our list of proposals)
      2. Display mockups as part of the list, so people can more readily get the beauty of our work

Actually, we’re thinking of four things, since we also want to make signup optional and make the questionnaire more fun to use 😅.

Really curious to get your thoughts on all that, but I understand if you need a breather. Thanks for your awesome help 🙏

I guess I was wrong on a few things then! It's great that you just went right to your users and asked them why. This seems like a great solution to what they told you.

it seems like almost everyone who clicks on a logo then clicks on « preview result »

I wouldn't have expected this but that's great news. And shows that you were more in tune with your users than I am.

Regarding your ideas for next steps, I like (2)!

        (1) is interesting - part of me thinks of this as you saying "You went through this long survey so we could design the perfect logo for you, but forget that; just look at all of them" (forgive my sarcasm). This could be the right way to go! If so, maybe it makes sense to just show all users a big list of logos before the survey (or maybe after only a few questions).

        1. 1

          Right on!

For the browsing option, we really don't want to hurt the "here are your proposals" experience. We estimate that half of people really don't know what they want and need advice, and we've built our experience for them so far.

It just seems like the other half is dead set on having one specific logo that they had in mind, and our proposals don't impact them at all ahah.

Actually we've had a few sales from people who found the exact logo that they wanted by complete chance. For example, someone wanted a logo of eggs for a farm business, and it happened to be a concept in his "persona" logos. He fell in love with it right away but that was cheer luck 😅

So we're wondering how many people just don't see any relevant logo immediately and leave, even though we have it somewhere in our catalog. Let's see how to fix that but still keep our "recommandation engine" intact.

          1. 2

Maybe you can have a separate landing page just for egg logos!

I wonder if you could bucket your users into different "personas". For example, the half of people that want and need advice might be "hand-holders". The other half that's dead set on a specific logo might be "the stubborns" (can't think of a name....)

It's hard to build a product that satisfies all users. But if the "hand-holders" seem like a better fit for your product, then you could just forget all the other personas and focus in only on them.

            1. 1

Wow that's great advice. I actually do not know how to take this decision. It seems like there's a big opportunity with the "stubborns", one that we could tap in fairly easily, while building something useful also for "handholders"..

And at the same time I totally believe that products should be narrow focused to succeed, so it's tempting to only focus on handholders. 😅

              1. 2

Haha yea deciding to completely forget about a big chunk of users can't be easy, even if you know it's what you should do.
