As I promised in a previous post, I wanted to update everyone on the sales progress of my newly released Medium Writing Course.
I launched the pre-sale of the course on September 25, 2020. I offered the course (which was already extremely reasonably priced, in my opinion) at a 50% discount for all pre-sales.
I wanted to give all of my early supporters a heads up and a chance to get the course at a fantastic price. One person had suggested (probably, correctly) that at least 25 of those same 50+ people would have paid the full price anyway so he suggested not offering the pre-sale discount.
But my sales philosophy in general can really be reduced to a single concept:
Over-Deliver
So I did things my way, and ultimately it turned out great!
The course ended up consisting of a 158 page eBook and 21 video modules on formatting techniques.
As for the actual sales breakdown:
I was hoping for maybe 100 total sales over the course lifetime (~3 years?), so this was a much better start than expected!
It's especially impressive since the only marketing was a Medium post, a newsletter blast, and a post on my Facebook group.
Ultimately I wanted to provide useful and actionable content so I'm excited to see what people think. I did send it to a few people to beta-test and they loved it, but I'll be curious to see how customers paying full price view it.
Thanks everyone on IH for your support!
Both my Medium Course and my Blogging Guide Newsletter have seen an uptick in traffic (about 7%) due to IH (based on analytics).
Feel free to ask any questions!
