(Almost) Reached $2k MRR

Did the bookkeeping this morning and am super close to breaking the $2k MRR mark (the net revenue was something along of $1,945).

This is super mind-blowing to me, because my revenue was flat for the longest time, and suddenly my app grows by over 200% in two months.

For reference, this is my hockey stick revenue graph :)

I just hooks into my post from earlier this week again.... I wanted to give up six months in at somewhere around $200 MRR. I thought about it again when I had my first revenue drop exactly a year ago (back to $350 MRR). And now this!

Don't give up on your dream if you believe in it. Sounds awfully cheesy, but keep fighting through it!

Just feeling happy and blessed today.

Thank you :) Feeling really happy this morning

Congrats @dqmonn I'm really impressed. You actually inspired me to so something similar but in a different niche where the industry really needs this. However I'm at the begining of my self-taught journey into programming. Can I ask you what language/frameworks you used for the back end?

Hi there! That sounds amazing. Building a marketplace is quite an endeavour, I wouldn't do it if you don't have a good background in programming, in all honesty. See whether you can bend ShareTribe.com to your liking, or get in touch and we could talk about using MentorCruise's tech

    Congratulations, @dqmonn

I just applied as a mentor.

Congratulations, this is an amazing milestone and great motivation! It'd be interesting to hear how you managed to incentivise mentors to sign up in the beginning (before you had mentees) - our platform has a similar chicken/egg situation which we're still perfecting!

I spent a lot of time cold emailing beforehand and talking to potential mentors, until I had about 100 commitments.

15 ended up signing up in the first week :) I go in-depth on this with @csallen in our quick chat episode https://www.indiehackers.com/podcast/129-quick-chat-with-dominic-monn

Ah awesome! I'll give that a listen, thanks :)

Congrats! Did you figure out the reason for your growth in March? I saw your post where you weren't sure about it. Or do you think it was covid-related?

It's network effects picking up (esp. word-of-mouth) and a long history of tweaking the service so that the value is even.

It's a cycle that can't be stopped. People become mentors, tell their network, these people see that, sign up as mentees and mentors, starting again.

That's a great model to have in a product ;)

Software is leading, but since we added a bunch of great founders, Business has been picking up too.

Per month definitely. People need a longterm guide in their life. Closing in on 200 paying customers

A fun calculation :) Looks like it's somewhere around $300 (I get 20%) right now.

Mentees in this case are my customers. They are harder to get than mentors because they are paying money, not earning it (with mentors it's more about ensuring quality).

So it's no different than with other SaaS: Offer something of value, treat a pain point. Most of them find us through Google.

All mentors included about $7? :)

Only considering active mentors about $30. They make considerably more :)
