Reached out to 120 Users: The stories

dqmonn @dqmonn

So two weeks ago I shared another update here, saying that I just sent 120 emails to some longterm users (our mentorships usually hold for 45 days, so I reached out to everyone who has been here for 3-6+ months).

The past two weeks have been a rollercoaster, I've learned about:

  • How mentors have encouraged people after they got fired
  • How people finally broke into a new career after trying for months
  • How it helped people find clarity on their path.

Finally, I talked to Ryan Wilson. Ryan used to be a Pro Basketball Player in Europe. After his retirement, he got into Cybersecurity and gave himself a year to start a new career there. After three months with one of our mentors, he is now hired in Cybersecurity!

I sat down with him, and talked about his experience.

Verdict: Talk to your users, personally. Sit down for an hour or two, and churn out personal emails. You'll discover incredible stories.
