I'm a big fan of trying out different strategies just to explore what works best for my business. I have tried some of these strategies like I've given out freebies, creating landing pages, and pop-ups, and even doing contests.
One thing I've noticed in all of these is that they first require a lot of effort and time to set up and just creating these is not enough, you will have to create a full-on marketing or PPC Ads campaign just for this lead generation technique you're going for. These strategies will only work if the target audience knows about it and is actually hyped for it.
Also, in case someone is in the B2B sector, these strategies might not work because B2B clients do not give much responses to these lead generation campaigns. If we go for paid lead generation techniques, that can work much better than what we expect them to. I'm in the B2B sector and even I was reluctant at first, but ever since I started using paid lead generation techniques, the amount of good marketing and sales intelligence I've been able to produce is surprisingly good.
I do not suggest buying lead lists or even outsourcing the lead generation process to another firm, rather you can use prospecting tools for generating leads. I did a lot of research on which tools work the best, especially for B2B firms, and tried 3-4 such tools. After some trial and error, I finally decided to use a tool named Aeroleads, it costs the least of all those tools that have a verification system to make sure that the data extracted is the right data. I have been able to generate a lot of good and convertible leads with this tool and would definitely recommend it to someone looking for something like this.
