Easy writing app for scientific pagers & pillar content
I like the output of LaTeX projects but I do not like working with it. It's not about learning the markups. It's about reading my text with cryptical symbols in between.
You can now use MonsterWriter within the browser. It's a closed beta and you can sign up here: https://www.getwaitlist.com/waitlist/5547
You can use almost all the features from the desktop app within the browser app. In the future we plan to provide collaboration possibilities for teams. MonsterWriter should be a notion alternative to all the teams which require more sophisticated document creation.

This gives us access to a large user base and is a driver to receive valuable feedback.
After having MonsterWriter launched into the Mac App Store it finally got some app store site impressions and also some Sales.
In the first phase we offered the app for download only if the user pays ~40€. This only lead to a handful of sales as the user first needed to go to our website if he wants do download a trial version. This was also not very clear to visitors who discovered the app in the App Store and did not came though our website.
In the second phase we offered a free download in the Mac App Store and displayed a trial dialog in the app. In this dialog the user could choose to either continue the trial period or upgrade the app.
After this update we saw an increase in impressions as well es download of MonsterWriter. We also observe slightly more app sales.
Next to the one time payment of ~40€ we also offered a monthly subscription for 5€ for the same feature set.
All users go with the one time payment.

The main portion of the time in preparing this campaign was certain the content of the video. After coming up with the content of the first version and producing the video I changed my mind and started over.
The second version is much shorter and contains less technical details.
Today I managed to get upvoted to the front page of HackerNews.

Even Though it is only the 25th position yet the amount of new visitors is impressive.
I've posted the a link to the website a few weeks ago but did not had any success. After spending three days in redesigning the website from scratch, i tried again.

Almost one month after the initial launch I've recreated the website from scratch and added more screenshots and more information.
Next step would be to replace the google form which is used to upvote features as well as a newsletter from.
After spending more than three years on developing the product, this task was overdue. It took me so long as I build the editor - the core of MonsterWriter - with the requirement in mind to be able to work on the same document with more than one user at the same time.
Still there are more than 50 known bugs in the app and is was hard to take the decision to give it to other people. On the other way I was nervous spending more time without real user feedback.
