An Indie Hackers Mobile App
Moon was an Indie Hackers client for iOS. Development stopped in 2020. It never left beta.
If you're interested in acquiring this product let me know.
Moon, my Indie Hackers app, is still growing despite the lack of milestone updates (sorry about that)!
To keep it short, Moon now does these cool things:
If you're already signed up for the beta, you should be receiving an email from TestFlight to download Moon 0.2 (5)
. If you'd like to get the beta, head over to https://themoon.app.
I'm open to any and all feedback so hit me up here on IH or Twitter or email or through TestFlight. Whatever works for you.
Thanks for the support!
Levi
Note: I cross-posted this to the IH Meta group since I felt it was relevant.
Moon Beta 2 is out π¨βπβ
This update has been a long time coming. Turns out working a full-time job, being a new dad and shipping regularly is kinda hard. But I'm proud of what I built in the cracks of time that I find to work on Moon!
Here's a bunch of new stuff you can do with Moon:
User Profiles
β’ Tap any username (in a post, comment or @tag) to see their profile.
β’ Profiles show their photo, follower counts, points, bio, comments, posts, products and links to email, tweet or follow them on IH.
β’ Tap a comment or post in a user's profile to jump to it in the forum.
Better Navigation
β’ Tap the filter button (top left) to filter the forum by top, new, milestones or any of the 38 IH groups.
β’ Tap the group name in a post to jump to that feed.
β’ Tap any URL (in a post, comment or bio) to open it in Safari.
Fall Back to the Web App
β’ For features not yet in Moon (posting, commenting, voting, etc) tap to jump straight to that page in the IH web app.
Bug Fixes
β’ Accurate vote counts
β’ Deleted comments are hidden
β’ No disabled buttons
These were all requested by beta testers like you.
So thanks for the feedback! And thanks to @csallen for building a great forum, podcast and community.
Feedback is appreciated, as always!
Find me here on IH or Twitter @levidxyz or email (levi at themoon.app)
Happy hacking!
Levi
P.S. I hope its ok with @channingallen, @csallen and @rosiesherry if I use your profiles as examples π€
I recently took a break from coding on Moon to throw together a super simple landing page using Carrd.
Until now my domain themoon.app just redirected to Moon's IH product page but this new site will be a better way for folks to learn what Moon is and and much faster way to request a beta invite.
Special thanks this time to @Emolr, @travelingflwr, @perryraskin, @mbeinder and @ludop0lis whose beta feedback I've turned into "social proof" for the site. Cheers!
A couple weeks ago I announced the private beta for my Indie Hackers iOS client, Moon.
Here's some pretty cool stats for Moon 0.1:
π 17 days since private beta announced
π©βπ¬ 18 active beta testers (23 invites)
π± 250+ sessions
π¬ 19 feature requests
π 0 bugs
π₯ 0 crashes
π¨βπ 1 happy app developer
I'm thrilled with the early adoption and initial feedback I've received from all of my new Indie Hacker friends! I'm going to put all the existing feature requests as comments to this post so that anyone who wants to +1 a request or has some thoughts on it can reply/upvote (I'm still trying to figure out the easiest way for people to leave feedback π€·ββοΈ).
Thanks so much to all IHers beta testing Moon 0.1:
@alxcnwy, @Emolr, @nl99, @The1nk, @mbeinder, @xtbhyn, @ludop0lis, @leonhitchens, @Goldriver, @rob_race, @qvaz, @jki, @travelingflwr, @trulykp, @perryraskin, @toddpgood and @hiramfromthechi
Moon is now available for private beta! If you're an Indie Hacker on the go and want to give my iOS client a spin let me know and I'll send an invite π
If you want to see a clip of the app in action, here's me zipping around IH with it this morning.
Boom. Another feature down.
Here's clip of group filtering. I'll keep posting the latest progress on Moon to that account so feel free to follow π
I've still got some important (but less flashy) improvements to make. Detecting hyperlinks, usernames, that sort of stuff.
But once I get that in I'd love to take this thing into private beta! So if anyone's reading this and is interested in giving Moon a try leave a comment here or tweet at me!
Happy hacking π¨βπ
I've been hacking away at Moon this week and now we've got nicely threaded comments for every post πͺ
Check out this quick clip of a comment thread in action.
Next up: Groups! @csallen seems to be leaning into IH Groups lately so I'm pushing group filtering to the front of the Moon to-do list. Which btw looks kinda like this now:
π Top posts, Milestones, Post bodies, Comments
π Group posts
π Proper sorting
π Markdown rendering
π Products
π Profiles
Checkout this quick clip of the app so far
Static screen shots here
Still lots of work to be done! Here's the "roadmap" (in order of work completed):
π Top posts
π Milestones
π Group posts
π Proper sorting*
π Post bodies
π Comments
π Interviews*
π Articles
π Products
π Meetups
π Profiles
(*) cc @csallen I may need to use a lifeline for these π
For every new idea I have.. getting the domain name is always the first thing I do. Iβm not really sure why π€·ββοΈ
Anyway my plan is to build an iOS client for Indie Hackers called Moon. If anyone sees this βmilestoneβ feel free to follow along.
