Inspired by GV's Design Sprint, the MVP Sprint documents my journey as a solo founder to build a SaaS startup in public.

December 2, 2020 500 (pre-launch) subscribers in 5 weeks

The MVP Sprint is my public process of going from idea to MVP to paying users.

In the five weeks since launch, I've written five articles, each corresponding to a step in the sprint. I've found the process of building in public to be extremely rewarding personally - tons of people have messaged me from all around the world. And it's given me a sense of external pressure to produce on a weekly basis.

But it's also been a great way to generate demand for my product before writing any code.

My last two articles hit the front page of Hacker News, generating almost 40,000 article reads.

More importantly, I have 60+ waitlist signups through a vague Webflow site (HelloHailey.io) and typeform survey.

I've enjoyed talking to potential users and writing. But I'm really looking forward to start coding next week.

October 26, 2020 Launched on Substack

I officially launched the newsletter on Substack with my first article - https://mvpsprint.substack.com/p/choose-a-problem.

In it, I talk about how I find problems worth solving, and introduce the problem I'll be working on.

This article summarizes step 1 of the MVP Sprint - Choose a problem. The next steps include (2) Identify a market and (3) Validate the problem.
