Since you're browsing Indie Hackers, you're probably aware of GitHub and their marketplace where they allow teams to promote their GitHub integrated application. Since the majority of our target market uses GitHub marketplace every week, getting Next Release on it was one of our first growth hack experiments.
To be listed, GitHub requires that you go through a submission and approval process. It took us a couple of days to integrate with GitHub's various webhooks and to complete the submission. After a few weeks of waiting, GitHub finally approved us!
We quickly validated this growth strategy and have been continuing to improve our integration while debugging a variety of edge cases over the past few weeks. We'll keep experimenting with improvements to our listing, our onboarding experience, and how we help customers simplify their release process through seamless GitHub integrations.
