A personal knowledge base for networked thinking.
Notabase is a personal knowledge base for networked thinking. It's powerful, easy-to-use, and open-source. Inspired by Notion, Obsidian, and Roam Research.
Notabase is now live on Product Hunt!
It's actually been a lot of work preparing for this launch. I had a whole checklist of things to do, including:
And now the day is finally here ๐ฎ
If you'd like to check it out, it's here: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/notabase
I would greatly appreciate your support ๐
I'm excited to share that Notabase is now featured on BetaList!
So far, I haven't really seen a meaningful tick in traffic. And just by browsing past startups, it doesn't seem like they've gotten much engagement either.
It's still early in the day, so I'll give it some time to see how things pan out.
Regardless, I'm grateful for being featured, and it's nice to have the extra visibility and backlink ๐ Every little bit counts, right?
Here's my page ๐ https://betalist.com/startups/notabase
Update: I ended up getting ~300 visitors to my page. ๐
I'm excited to announce that Notabase is moving into beta!
I started Notabase with the fundamental goal of helping you write and think better. Notabase's three core principles came out of that goal:
It's easy to use, so you never have to feel like you're fighting against your note-taking app or that you're spending more time configuring stuff than actually writing.
Links are first-class citizens, so your knowledge can be seamlessly and naturally connected together without rigid hierarchies.
It's open, transparent, and privacy-friendly, so you can be assured that your data is safe, private, and completely yours.
Over the past six months, I have been focused on building a strong foundation for these three principles. This includes building a best-in-class WYSIWYG editor for viewing and editing your notes, adding powerful ways to view your note connections with backlinks, graph view, and page stacking, and making the code open source.
While in beta, I'll be making Notabase even better in 3 key areas: stability + reliability, privacy + security, and capability + power.
I believe that the right note-taking app can be a profound mental prosthetic for your thinking and productivity, which is why I'm building Notabase into one of the most powerful and easy-to-use applications for networked thinking.
There are lots of exciting things planned for the future! Thanks for reading, and stay tuned โ
It's always exciting to see a traffic spike!
I posted Notabase on Reddit today and it got some traction. It was really helpful to get feedback from people and see what they think about the product, rather than to just build in my own bubble. Plus, I got a few extra people to join my Discord ๐
This is a friendly reminder to always be continually launching! I'm super excited about moving Notabase into beta next week. Fingers crossed it'll turn out well ๐ค
I was working on Notabase when I got a message from one of my users asking me to implement a feature. It was actually something that I had already planned on implementing soon.
I decided to do it right then and there, and ended up shipping it within the hour.
I let the user know and they responded with the following:
"Wow, you are really fast! ๐ฎ"
Pretty amazing how five words and an emoji can lift your spirits!
Notabase is now in alpha! I've been working on it for the past 3 months and I'm excited to have people start using it.
Notabase is an open source personal knowledge base for non-linear thinking. It supports rich text, auto-markdown conversion, backlinking support, and more.
It's based off of Roam Research, Typora, Notion, and other note-taking apps, taking the best features from each of them and combining them into a simple, easy-to-use app.
It's free while in alpha. Give it a try here: https://notabase.io. Would appreciate feedback!
