I asked my team which tool they wish to use to start and manage the project together, and it was like asking your girlfriend what she wants for dinner, so I asked them if they use Notion, and they all said YES! so I did!

March 23, 2021 Reached my first $1K in revenue!

3 days after launch I just reached $1,123 selling 40 pre-orders for my new product, Notion Startup OS, I shared a complete case study highlighting how exactly I made my first $1k selling Notion templates on. Indie Hackers

March 20, 2021 Released for Pre-Order

On March 20, I reached a stage on my product where I'm comfortable that it can deliver promised value, I was ready to start collecting pre-orders.

Since I'm already a professional graphic designer who happens to have +5 years of experience with WordPress, I quickly started creating my landing page. I also made three featured images for the Gumroad product page.

I was lucky enough that the free templates I shared back in August not only passed $200 sales by now but by reaching 1.6K Customers (emails). Plus, with my curated contact list of 53 awesome founders, I was ready to email them about the new OS and see how it goes.

With my checklist in place and everything ready to go, I crossed my fingers and started sending out emails about the OS pre-order,

and to make it worth pre-ordering, I made a 50% off special offer.

September 14, 2020 Scratching my itch!

1 Month after sharing the free templates (which made $64 at the time), I was assembling a team to work on another project called Freelance Wiki. A small community for freelancers in the MENA region.

I started asking my team which tool they wish to use to create and manage the project together, and it was like asking your girlfriend what she wants for dinner! So, I asked a different question, I asked if they use Notion, and they all said YES!

lesson learned instead of asking "Which?" I should ask "If?" super effective!

I started searching for a system to manage startups built into Notion, but with no luck (again!). This time, I knew that I have to build this system myself.

I was building the OS on Notion as we were working on the project. After many hours building it, it turns out that it was worth having it on Notion, and it proved to be so much better than any other system we tried before. Why? Probably because we're building it according to what we want, the way we want it.

We only kept the communication on Slack & connected it with Notion so that the team knows about tasks while we're on Slack. The team loved it, the project launched, and everyone was happy with the journey.
