Today I decided to make nottr public. It's in its early stage and thus completely free.
I've been working on this for almost one year and have been using the app for myself for at least 6 months without needing to change anything.

Next steps:
I WANT IT! Do you plan to add an integration with Notion?
Wow! Great to see more people find it useful :)
You can grab it. It's available for free for macOS. Linux and windows coming up.
How would you want it to integrate with Notion? Notion is really powerful but it does not really appeal to me. I like things to be a bit more simple :)
I use a bunch of note apps:
Notion is the main tool. I aggregate all the notes there once a week from all the sources.
I do not want another source of truth for my notes. Neither I do not want additional syncing work.
Thus I would use nottr if it is able to automatically pass my notes to my source of truth: Notion.
:)
Thanks for sharing. Yeah seems nottr would not really help with your case.
I will keep this in mind for the future. Maybe I will end up implementing it.
Cheers!
damn, this is cool. from your demo video, i couldn't tell if you pressed enter for tags and for the note. could you clarify?
Thanks! You just type your #hashtag and press 'Space', it is automatically parsed and removed from your text input.
Have you tried it yet? I would love to hear more about what you think of it.
just tried it. it's great. here are my thoughts:
the # + space combo takes some getting used to, as submitting via space is unorthodox. but i think it works.
it'd be great to have an option to customise the shortcuts for option+command+B and option+command+N. but not that important, since this definitely works too.
having some kind of subtle notification that your note was saved upon hitting enter would be great.
this is random but 100mb for this app seems unexpectedly large.
Thanks for the feedback!
I took two of your points and added them to the roadmap here: http://nottr.colac.xyz/#features
for others, here's the link: http://nottr.colac.xyz/
(always make it easy to access your work)
Notes:
I like this product. But the branding, positioning & marketing need a lot of work.
Check branding + positioning of https://getcommande.com/
Would try to replicate. Especially the screen recordings/gifs of the product in action, without the need to watch a video clip.
Need to focus more on benefits and make the website actually sell the product.
i.e. my tagline would be:
"Distraction-Free Notes"
"just hit command+alt+n"
Cheers & good luck!
Hey!
Thanks for the feedback. I did not realise my product update would end up listed on the home page :)
IH has changed since I last used it :D
A lot of good points I will take them into account.
If you have any more feedback about the product itself I would really appreciate it.
Cheers!
Sure, will download and let you know my thoughts in a couple of days
appreciate it. Is there anything I can offer my feedback on?
Things I would find useful:
---
this would be perfect for tasks.
if i type a note that starts with Dash and space should create a task (checklist). When I check the box it gets archived, or even deleted.
---
Would like to be able to escape out.
---
Can’t remove last hashtag, this is a little annoying.
I've got a small update for you. I've released a new version of nottr and now you can escape out.
Are you still using nottr? Can you share more about your experience?
New version here: http://nottr.colac.xyz/#download
hey,
i haven't been using it much -- I'm quite used to using Bear so I've continued using that.
I pay for a premium bear account $15/yr. It's missing some features I want so I might change to a different note taking app (I would probably change to a service that lets me do shared notes with other people)
hey,
Thanks for the insights and the honest response.
As mentioned in other comments I plan to make a self-hosted and paid server side for it along with a mobile app.
Nested hashtags is something I have been thinking of as well.
Cheers!
Any plans to monetize?
Yep. Considering that this might be useful for users I will probably offer a premium version that would allow (even self hosted maybe) cloud syncing and probably some more features.
I've built it cause my notes have been a big mess. It solved the problem for me. Now I'd like to see if it is of value for others.

Yep the notes are stored locally and you can export them to .json at any time.
Depending on how things go with this soft launch I will think about making a premium version with cloud or even self hosting (for privacy nerds like me).
Have you tried the app yet? Would love to hear some feedback about the usage ;)

Hey :) I've release a new version of nottr and now it has a subtle notification like you asked for.
You can get it here http://nottr.colac.xyz/#download.
Are you still using nottr? Do you have more feedback to share?
Thanks for the heads up with the google analytics blocking the download. I removed the event tracking now.
Also I added the spacebar bug report here: http://nottr.colac.xyz/#features
I'll think about the tutorial setup.
I've release last night a new version. Are you still using nottr? Do you have any more feedback to share?

I am pretty sure this is spam.
For sure. It's an outdated SEO tactic which no longer works, don't bother with it when you're marketing Nottr*.
Good luck with the app. I really like the idea of quickly capturing a thought. Personally I like to build big, long notes full of information which I continually add to over time (e.g. my upcoming travel plans/ideas for a new marketing campaign/etc), so quickly jotting things down and linking them together using tags could be really valuable to me. I'll give it a go and let you know my thoughts.
*Source: I'm an SEO.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am not sure if you noticed but in the view where you browse the notes you can continue working on the note.
I've added some simple markups so it's easy to format your notes.
My use case is this:
The tags help me also categorise these quick notes into tracks of thought so I can later merge them into a more elaborate
I hope it does not sound like I am trying to convince you to use it. Just wanted to share my usage flow :)
Cheers!
