Helping You Build Your Business in the Digital Space

May 27, 2020 We have rebranded to Startup Sanctuary

Conducting customer interviews and feedback gathering feedback has given a clearer direction for the products and service we want to provide. One of the main pieces of feedback over the past month has been that the branding did not seem to fit with the content and offering of the Open Source Capital website. In light of this, Open Source Capital is now Startup Sanctuary as we build out a place for creators and entrepreneurs to launch their projects in the digital space.

May 6, 2020 An introduction to Open Source Capital

I’ve been involved in Blockchain, Bitcoin and the Cryptocurrency ecosystem since 2017. I have also worked in technology consulting and digital transformation over the past 5 years or so in many different capacities. I have lived and worked between Ireland and Canada and have met some amazing people along the way.

One of the reasons I became so interested in the Blockchain space in 2017 was because it represented something that had the potential to change the world we live in for the better. It represented hope and optimism and a way for us to exchange value with anyone, anywhere in the world without the need for centralized intermediaries. This created a vision in my mind of a world that was full of creation. I contextualized what I understood blockchain technology could do as a means by which we could scale human creative output on a global level.

I saw it as a way to allow individuals, artists, entrepreneurs and creators of all types to empower themselves and those around them. A world in which more people are contributing their uniqueness and creativity towards the whole is one that leads to a more rich experience of life for us all. I still think this is possible, and I still think we are very early in this space.

This is an even more interesting subject in light of the situation we have going on in the world at the moment with Covid-19. Increased amounts of remote working and distributed teams, disruptions to supply chains, healthcare systems and food safety are all use cases that blockchain and digital assets can aid in becoming more efficient at scale.

Open Source Capital is a community that empowers early stage creators, entrepreneurs and builders in the digital space. We also seek to bridge the knowledge gap for those new to the blockchain and digital assets. If you have a project of any kind that you are trying to bring into creation, we’d love to hear from you.

Regards,

Gordon

April 20, 2020 Joined Indie Hackers!

Delighted to have joined Indie Hackers with the Open Source Capital project.

Open Source Capital (opensourcecapital.co) centres around financial sovereignty, open source ideas and bridging the knowledge gap for new people to the blockchain and digital asset space.

As mentioned below, I am currently building out the MVP and will be recruiting feedback throughout this week before I soft launch it on Friday.

Today is day 1 here at Indie Hackers and I am looking forward to connecting with some of you great people.

I am currently thinking that Medium and LinkedIn will be the main focus for content publishing once Open Source Capital is up and running. Articles and posts will be the first focus for content, soon followed by video and audio.

Shout out to @8bit and the Yen.io crew also. I joined the #YENFoxtrot bootcamp this week and am in the process of going through it right now.

April 20, 2020 Building the MVP

I am currently building out the Minimum Viable Product for Open Source Capital. The plan is to start small and iterate as I continue along. The MVP will be a website that will allow people to sign up and register interest to join our community. Initially I plan to use Slack / Telegram / Notion for community chat until a point at which we can have a dedicated community ecosystem in the form of a web app of third party integration to the website.

Currently on track to have the first iteration of the MVP complete by Friday April 25th and get some feedback on it throughout this week.
