I’ve had my personal newsletter with single opt-in for a while now. Single opt-in resulted in the list filled with fake emails. Even people who really signed up weren’t receiving my emails, since they sometimes ended up in the spam folder. Ouch.
When I relaunched my personal newsletter, double opt-in was a no-brainer.
What happened up next sparked the idea of this product. A high percentage of subscribers told me they had subscribed, but I wasn’t able to see them as subscribed on my email list.
I finally understood that they were missing to confirm their email address by clicking on the first confirmation email.
Why weren’t they confirming? Most of them forgot about it because the email was either getting into the Promotions tab, or again to spam. I built a script to detect these subscribers “stuck in limbo” and started reaching out manually via my personal Gmail address. The success rate was 100%. They all finally confirm their email address.
That’s how the idea was born, and after reading a few marketing studies and talking with newsletter creators, I confirmed this was an interesting problem to solve.
