After one of our blog posts went viral on Hacker News yesterday, the influx of traffic drove us over 1,000 account sign-ups since we started working on Outseta 3 years ago.
Here's how account sign-ups have looked by year:
2017: 32
2018: 279
2019: 548
We saw 50+ sign-ups yesterday alone and about 10,000 website visitors drive primarily by Hacker News.
Interestingly, our blog post didn't do very well initially on HN but their team recognized it as a good, underperforming post and re-promoted it on the front page for us. That second promotion caught fire.

My SaaS start-up, Outseta (www.outseta.com) turned 3 years old today. I published to following update that details how much it's cost us to build the business, how we've allocated equity in the company, and the marketing strategy we've used to land our early customers. Some highlights:

Our co-founding team is continuing to earn sweat equity in the business for our time invested in building Outseta.

Over 3 years we've spent $66,326 to build the company.

In 2019 we generated 548 new account sign-ups at an average cost of $21.25 per account.

We hope to become profitable by the end of 2020!
