It's a Multiplayer Card Game for iOS and Android.
There's a small community in central Finland who plays this game for generations. We made the mobile app to preserve this little gem.
Already in February, we hit 50.000 players, which feels absolutely insane to me. I'm so grateful! 馃檹
Daily Games are still going strong as well, currently, we have between 1500-2000 games every day, with four players each and lasting on average 17 minutes.
Last night I checked a few of the top players, on how they were doing, and there are players in there with over 29.000 played games!!! Absolutely mind-blowing to me 馃く
Maintaining the whole thing with its legacy codebase and things like rage quitting being a constant issue, is not easy, but these kinds of numbers energize and give us the motivation to move forward.
We're currently working on a feature that hopefully takes care of rage quitting.
Our Database is by far the biggest expense. But our revenue keeps growing and we had some money in the bank so that we've decided to prepay and amazon RDS instance for the full year. That saved us around 32% of the usual bill and my first thought was that we should've done that much earlier.
Cheaters in any game are annoying. In Pidro a cheater is considered a person who is about to loose a game, leave it before the score is calculated.
I have this idea to assign scores to a player after the fact, so that you get the loosing score no matter when you leave the game, but that's a bit more complicated. So we came up with a block function that is easier to implement. When you block another player, this person will never show up in your realm again, meaning you won't see her in your lobby or anywhere else ever again. That way you can sort out the sour apples yourself for now :)
