Hit $2,000 MRR from 300 paying subscribers!

Big milestone for the two of us at Plausible Analytics today!

We've just hit $2,000 MRR from 300 paying subscribers with our simple, open-source, lightweight (< 1 KB) and privacy-friendly alternative to Google Analytics.

Our recent growth has been amazing and is a huge step towards sustainability! Thank you all for your support, trust and for sharing Plausible on Indie Hackers and around the web! We rely on people that love to use Plausible to help us spread the word to even more website and business owners so it's very appreciated!

Here's an overview of our recent milestones:

  • April 2nd: Reached $415 MRR
  • May 12th: Reached 100 paying subscribers in just over a year since the launch
  • May 27th: Hit $1,000 MRR
  • June 11th: Went from 100 to 200 paying subscribers in one month
  • July 6th: Went from 200 to 300 paying subscribers in less than 4 weeks
  • July 6th: Went from $1,000 MRR to $2,000 MRR in just over a month

June was easily the best month of all time for Plausible Analytics. We added some large customers and had our biggest revenue growth ever, both in absolute ($) and relative (%) terms.

Here's a recap of our activities in June and a preview of what's coming up in July: https://plausible.io/blog/june-2020-recap

Nice product and congrats on the numbers. Pricing makes it very tempting too 😉

  2. 3

I'm very curious to learn about your conversion rates and the promotion strategies that worked for you. Would you be willing to share that?

    1. 1

      Thanks Michal!

About conversions: Had a look at our payment provider now and we've had 123 new subscribers in June while our live demo shows 515 trial signups in May (trialists have 30 days to make a decision) so that gives you a good idea of the conversion to subscriber. We don't really look at this number at this stage as we're growing fast with lots of things with bigger potential to focus on.

About promotion: Content marketing is what we do. We publish the best posts we can come up with that we believe our audience would appreciate and then we share those posts. Take a look at this post for more details on how we do it.

This big growth started when we published this post at the start of April and that post alone has been viewed by more than 87,000 people since then.

And obviously the fact that our users love our product enough to share it in different communities including here on Indie Hackers and social media helps a huge deal!

By looking at this live demo you can see our referral sources which tells you where our website traffic comes from and also our conversion rate to visit the register page, to sign up for a trial and to subscribe to the blog newsletter.

You have some some really great conversion rates. 24%! World class! Congratulations.

    Awesome!
I just looked into the product, it looks like a nice product to me.
    Congratulations! Keep growing 😊

Looks like a great product. I want something like this for my blog

Hi Marko, great job :) What technology do you use for the blog? Is it built with the Ghost or Wordpress API?

    1. 1

thanks Reece! we use Netlify CMS for the blog

  6. 2

    I think you're priced too low. :)

    1. 2

      Congrats on the milestone!

  7. 2

Congrats @markosaric on the milestone. I love the landing page of your website. Is it custom made or have you used a template?

  8. 1

Congrats Marko! I converted to annual on June 27th! Would've converted sooner, but the trial was 30 days long :)

Super happy overall so far. Looking forward to using it with all my future sites!

Well done and I have to say this looks like it is worth trying out!

sounds good Ryan, looking forward to hearing what you think!

Congrats @markosaric! As I said in the Changelog Slack, I'm cheering Plausible on. It's so good to have a more ethical analytics option I can recommend to people.

glad to hear that Robert, thanks!

Very cool app. GA is so bloated, never mind the privacy implications...

Tools like this tend to have an organic network effect, but you can definitely boost that effect with a referral sign-up system, perhaps?

    1. 1

Thanks! We haven't really considered affiliate marketing at this stage.

  12. 1

Congrats!! Very impressive! Are you using a platform to manage user Feedback or not yet? :)

    1. 1

Also, what do you use to manage your doc? It looks great!

      1. 1

Thanks Francois! Actually for both docs and feedback/roadmap we had to move providers over the last few weeks as our former providers didn't allow us to remove their GA code despite us being paying subscribers :(

So now our feedback is on Github: https://plausible.io/feedback
        Our public roadmap too: https://plausible.io/roadmap
And we built the new docs using Docusaurus

Well done. Always nice to hear positive news like this.
