Save newsletters, RSS feeds and Twitter threads to Pocket
I love saving articles for later with Pocket. Unfortunately, it only works with blog posts. I end up reading from too many sources: newsletters in my mailbox, RSS feeds in Feedly, etc.
Finally here! In my opinion, this is one of the most exciting features of CURATED: saving full Twitter threads to Pocket! (no more bookmarking for later never)
This is still in beta and needs a bit of refinement. Send me a DM on Twitter if you're interested in trying it: https://twitter.com/achrafnotashraf
Here's what you can now do with CURATED:
The end goal is to have a product that removes all the friction from capturing the best content from anywhere you can find it.
Next: I'll be focusing on retention and getting more feedback ➰
After a couple of months into the project - pocketfunnel.co - people at Pocket noticed my app and reached out asking me to change the branding (the name was confusing).
Long story short, I had to change the branding (name, logo, domain, etc) and even though I had only 10 users at the time, I wanted to make it as smooth and exciting as possible for them.
I spent weeks crafting an email to notify them, designing the new mockups, finding the perfect name, reading stories about startup rebrandings.
But it was time-consuming and it wasn't really moving the project forward.
I ended up letting the project on the side as I was already busy with other things (looking for internships and preparing for finals).
But months passed and I kept receiving messages from new users telling me about bugs (I left in the middle of the domain transfer so there were some redirection problems...).
All these people convinced me that I wasn't the only one struggling with reading workflows so I am back and more pumped than ever!
Lesson: I shouldn't try to make everything as good as it can be - especially at this stage of the project. Just make it better incrementally and keep having fun along the way 😁
Here we are! I think I'm finally ready to launch PocketFunnel publicly.
On my last update, I had a great chat with @bwb about the workflow with my RSS feed feature. I used to save all new blog posts automatically. Now, you can see the list of new posts from blogs you follow and save only what you want.
I took a couple of hours to read Julian Shapiro's landing page guide (https://www.julian.com/guide/growth/landing-pages) and redesigned my old landing page: https://pocketfunnel.co
I'm gonna stop coding for a bit and focus on marketing (not sure if I'll be able to).
I wasted the last 2 weeks thinking that I had to wait for Pocket to review the app, but apparently, I don't have to 😁
So I'm just fine-tuning a few things here and there and I'll be onboarding beta users!
If you want to:
Signup now for waiting list: https://pocketfunnel.co
Beta Users will get 1 year of Premium Membership to save as many items as they wish.
It has been a pain to read across 5 different apps. That's why I created PocketFunnel: to save all your content in one single place ☝
Today I made one step forward to save all content in Pocket:
Is there another type of content you read a lot on the web that you'd like to save in Pocket? - for me, it's definitely PDF files.
PS: PocketFunnel is still waiting for review, but you can signup now on pocketfunnel.co to get notified once its out 🚀
I've learned here that the first step of any project is to build a landing page presenting the product you want to build and allow people to signup for early access.
I've built a ton of them so it only took me a couple of hours to got it up and running. Sharing and getting visitors is the difficult part...
I love newsletters but now my inbox is cluttered with newsletter issues and I keep snoozing them to read them later. I was frustated not to be able to save them for later to my Pocket account just like with any other blog posts I find interesting.
I have the same problem with RSS Feeds. I use Feedly and I love it but it's pain to switch between Pocket and Feedly when I want to read something...
